Description of the walk

Park in the La Lance car park in Colmars.

(S/E) Follow the Chemin de la Waterfall, a wide track suitable for vehicles that climbs gently along the left bank of the stream. You will reach a place called Le Paroir.

(1) Head left of the stream, then return towards it to reach a small footbridge.

(2) Cross the footbridge to enter the majestic rocky cirque that is home to the Cascade de la Lance. Then begin your return journey in the opposite direction. You will then return to the La Lance car park (S/E).

Notes

Follow the yellow markers from the car park. This walk passes through a sensitive area where specific regulations may apply.

Worth a visit

Before (1): the route passes right next to the ruins of anold sawmill, a reminder of the valley’s artisanal past.
(2) Cascade de la Lance: a magnificent waterfall some twenty metres high, plunging into a natural pool.

A superb circular walk offering views of a charming little valley, then, after a short but steep climb, the plateau home to the Lignin Lakes. View the lakes and descend via a very beautiful path that crosses the plateau and passes close to La Lance, where you can see some superb pools and waterfalls. Return to the starting point. No particular difficulties apart from the length of the route, provided there is no snow on the ground.
