Park in the Bassin de Buisson car park.
(S/E) On the left-hand side of the Cure, there is a green metal forest gate. Take the path leading into the forest and ignore the turn-offs to the left.
(1) Your path will cross a sunken lane. If you’d like to see the larger of the two quarries on the route, continue straight ahead along the path as you emerge from the sunken lane. Carry on along the ridge and do not head down towards the valley on the right. You’ll reach the quarry, where, at the bottom, you can find a sandy spot in the sun or shade to have your picnic.
(2) Turn back. To continue the route, take the sunken track by turning right. Stay on the sunken track, ignoring the small paths on the right, and head for the second quarry on the route, which is the most beautiful.
(3) At the far end of the quarry, take the exit from which the sandstone used to be extracted. Head straight on at the junction and proceed to the next one directly beneath a power line.
(4) At this fork, take the path on the left for the shortest route (there is an alternative route to the right – see section ‘During the walk or nearby’). Directly beneath a high-voltage power line, take the path on the right to avoid climbing up onto the plateau.
(5) Continue, veering to the right towards the D95.
(6) Before reaching the road, take the small path on the left (horse paddock on the right). Then head straight on through the woods.
(7) Turn sharply to the right. Cross the D94 and continue straight on along Rue d’Ors. Carry on until you see the sign for ‘Moulin d’Ors’. Turn right, walk past the Château d’Ors farm and leave the grounds via a small path on the right.
(8) About fifty metres further on, turn onto the path on the left. Go under the Gar bridge and take the path on your left until you reach the forest track on a mound of earth. Turn right and follow this path to the Moulin des Vassaux.
(9) Continue along the path. Keep to the right at the three-way junction to reach a flight of steps leading to a road, which you must cross. Carry on straight ahead, cross the footbridge over the marshes and emerge onto a street (Route de Billehou).
(10) Turn left, then right after 20 metres onto Impasse de la Fontaine Billehou. Carry on along the track, then take the first track on the right to cross the two branches of the Mérantaise. After crossing the river, join the D95 (Route de Châteaufort), cross with care and continue straight ahead along the Chemin du Fond de la Cure. Carry on straight ahead at the crossroads.
(11) At the end of the track, you have the choice of turning right or left (depending on the route you’ve chosen) to cross a precarious path made of stones or logs. Turn right immediately and head back up to the starting car park (S/E).
