The Saint-Apollinaire Lake circuit
This circuit, created as part of the Fête de la Randonnée organised by the Hautes-Alpes Departmental Committee, is a pleasant route suitable for all ages. It offers breathtaking views of its large neighbour, the Serre-Ponçon Lake.
Aiguilles de Chabrières and Réallon Station from Saint Apollinaire
This route to the Aiguilles de Saint-Apollinaire allows you to discover the small lake of Saint Apollinaire before enjoying an exceptional view of the Serre-Ponçon lake and the mountains that surround it. On the way back, you can appreciate the charm of the small resort of Réallon.
A passage through a very steep rocky area may be difficult for those who are sensitive to vertigo.
Aiguilles de Chabrières from Saint-Apollinaire
From the pretty little lake of Saint-Apollinaire, towards the Aiguilles de Chabrières. The route offers magnificent 360° views of Lake Serre-Ponçon, the Embrunais and the Ecrins.
This hike is one of the routes leading to the Aiguilles de Chabrières (I’ve described another one starting from the Réallon resort). For me, this is the most difficult one because the climb is steep right from the start and doesn’t let up until the Pic de Chabrières.

The Pierre Arnoux Belvedere
The walk begins with a stroll through a beautiful forest and ends with a splendid view of Lake Serre Ponçon.
Lac des Sirènes, starting from Prapic
A walk with almost no descent thanks to the Télémix and the car left beforehand at the Orcières Merlette resort. The Diolon Valley is beautiful and little-known. It takes you from Prapic to Lac des Sirènes. From there, it’s easy to reach Roche Rousse. This hike should only be undertaken when the Merlette resort is open in summer (July and August) so you can return via the Roche Rousse Télémix. (The descent is much shorter as it includes the ride down on the Télémix!)
Fressinières Pass (Col)
From Prapic to Dormillouse via the Fressinières Pass.
Please note: the height difference is only 1200 m.
Up the Gap Canal: from Pont de Frappe to Les Ricous
A lovely, idyllic walk with virtually no elevation gain, easy and shaded. Ideal for families. You can walk part of the route and turn back, or tackle it in short sections. Of course, it’s possible to do this walk in the opposite direction.
The canal is always covered, so you can’t see the water.
Please note that between the start and point 2 there is a steep descent through the woods.
From Roche Rousse to Prapic via the lakes of Orcières and Les Pisses
A magnificent hike taking you to discover the lakes of Orcières, Lac des Pisses and the pretty village of Prapic
The six lakes of Orcières-Merlette, including Les Estaris
This hike has been suitable for all ages since 2020. Using the chairlifts (Drouvet 1 and 2 for the outward journey and Roche Rousse for the return journey) makes it easy. The six large lakes are visited on the way down. A variant towards the Col de Freissinières is possible. The landscapes are magnificent, especially at the starting point at the top of Drouvet. The lakes are all very beautiful and diverse.
Lac Sainte-Marguerite and Source de Jérusalem
A very pleasant circular above Les Orres resort, allowing you to discover a beautiful lake, Sainte-Marguerite, and the springs that feed Les Orres, named Jerusalem.
From Chaillol 1600 to Chantaussel
A short walk, with very little uphill climb and no difficulty, starting from Chaillol 1600 to the hamlet of Chantaussel (municipality of Saint-Julien-en-Champsaur).
Round-trip walk: you’ll need at least two cars.
