(S) From the Cabane du Vieux Emosson, head towards the dinosaur tracks, cross the dam face and reach a small flat area about a hundred metres after the dam.
Leave the path and head left, placing your hands on a rock with good grip a few times. Follow the path until you reach the concrete cairn, which is clearly visible from the dam.
(1) Continue over the rocks to a second clearly visible stone cairn, continue uphill and reach the summit ridge on the left. Follow it to the junction with the Gorge de la Veudale trail.
(2) Take the cairned and red and white marked path opposite to reach a crossroads with a signpost.
(3) Continue straight ahead through a rocky landscape to reach the Col de la Terrasse on the French-Swiss border.
(4) Turn right, follow the Lac Vert and then reach the Col des Corbeaux, another border pass.
(5) Follow the path towards the Vallée de Tré les Eaux and arrive there after passing another lake at the foot of the Glacier de Tré les Eaux.
(6) Turn left, continue downhill, take a small cable-lined passage and, after a short climb, you will reach a crossroads on a ledge with a signpost.
(7) Here, there are two options for reaching the Chalets des Granges:
- take the path on the left and follow it to reach the Chalets des Granges.
- turn right, which is the route shown on the map, and take the passageway with ladders towards Sur le Rocher. Be careful here if you are prone to vertigo. Descend via a fairly impressive section along the equipped ledge for about 100 metres. Then follow the Ruisseau de la Mernière stream until you reach the crossroads with signpost no. 137.
(8) Turn left to reach the Chalets des Granges.
(9) Continue until you reach the track. Follow it downhill to the right, go through two bends and take the path on the right that crosses the track to reach the Couteray car park, the end of the day's stage and the end of this eight-day tour (E).
