Start from the centre of the village of Serrières en Chautagne or a little higher up if there is space above the cemetery itself above the church.
(S/E) From the cemetery, follow the yellow markings on a green background of the PDIPR. Head towards a large house called "Les Terrasses" and the signpost for Les Terrasses 293 m; two opposite directions lead to the same place: this is normal as you are on a route.
(1) Turn right onto the path that leads into the woods, following a stream and then passing the remains of the Tuf quarries. It makes a round trip to the Cascade Pétrifiante waterfall.
It continues to climb, crossing the road twice.
Still following the PDIPR markings, you will reach the Croix de Clarafond and its picnic area.
Head back into the forest to reach a beautiful track.
(2) Continue climbing, passing the 550 m point.
(3) Leave the "4" trail on your right. Continue towards the large chestnut tree, which, incidentally, is in poor condition, but it is not very young either. At an altitude of 590 m, rejoin the "4" trail, which completes a circular path.
(4) The descent will now begin. Be careful, as the trail is sometimes a little steep and wet.
Follow the markings and you will come to a road in the hamlet of Venaize.
(5) Turn left. Take a path that will soon cross the vineyard; there is an explanatory sign.
(6) You will eventually return to the tarmac road, passing close to a sanctuary.
(7) Pass under the Château de Lapeyrouse (sign). Follow the road under the château to return to the car park or go around the château and join the D56.
Follow it up to the junction with the starting trail.
(1) Descend this time to reach the car park (S/E).
