Departure from the church square (former school) in Paguignan.
(S/E) Leave the car park, turn right and go around the hamlet. At the exit, take the D175 towards the hamlet of Cailhol. Follow this road and ignore the turnings. Walk alongside the cemetery and cross the bridge over the Cessière (dry).
(1) In the hamlet of Cailhol, at the cross after the houses, take the small tarmac road on the left that goes uphill. Follow this farm track through the vineyards and pine woods, ignoring all the turnings on either side. When you see the hamlet of Vialanove (elevation 211), take the path on the right (water point in the car park).
(2) At the hamlet of Vialanove, turn left and then immediately right towards the water tower.
Pass to the left of the water tower (it is on the right). At the intersection, take the path opposite and ignore the next two junctions.
(3) At the crossroads, turn left and follow the main path, ignoring the paths on your left. You will pass an agricultural shelter where an old wine press serves as a prop.
(4) At the fork, take the path on the left and continue through the heath and vineyards to reach a forest track at another fork.
(5) Continue straight ahead, skirting the cliffs of the Ruisseau de Tréménal, and continue to the RD175.
(6) Cross the road and take the track opposite. Go around the sheep and goat pasture on the left. Do not cross the electric fences to avoid encounters with rams and billy goats! Continue right at the first junction.
(7) At the next fork, turn left and continue uphill. At the intersection, do not cross the fence but turn right and take the downhill path. Leave a reservoir on your left.
At the next intersection, turn left and join the D175E2 (you can go straight ahead to avoid the short climb, which will take you to the track leading to point 9.
(9) Turn right, leave the farm on your right and follow the tarmac road for 500 m.
(10) Just before a sharp right-hand bend, leave the tarmac road and take the path on the left.
At the next intersection, turn left and continue to the vineyards. Turn immediately right and walk along the vineyards on the right (the vineyards are on your left). At the last vineyard, before the pine tree, turn right and, at the fork about 20 metres further on, follow the path on the left (you can also go straight on and stay on the track to reach point 11).
(11) At the edge of the heath, in front of the vineyard, turn left and follow the farm track. At a right-hand three-way junction (fork), take a small path on the left which will lead you to the Chauves Souris cave, protected by a green fence.
(12). At the Chauves Souris cave, turn around to return to the track, turn left and go straight down to the RD175.
(13) Turn left, take the road and follow it along the hamlet of Cailhol (water point on the low wall of the car park).
(1) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead and pass in front of the Gautran Cailhol wine cellar. Cross the bridge over the Cessière, pass the cemetery again and continue to the car park of the church (former schools) in Paguigan (S/E).
