Park in the car park on Quai de l’Albe near the emergency services centre.
(S/E) Cross the footbridge and turn left onto Rue du Port du Canal. At the end of the street, turn right, cross the canal bridge, and you’ll see the riverside rest area on your right. You’ll arrive at the roundabout.
(1) Take the second exit, towards Saint-Avold, and head up Rue Jean Burger.
(2) Turn right before the first houses towards Rue de l’Aht, then turn immediately left into Rue des Fauvettes.
(3) Turn right onto Rue de la Forêt, towards the Saint-Hubert forest lodge, the arboretum and the observatory (water point).
(4) Turn left onto the Grands Chênes forest track (forest ranger’s house, arboretum and observatory opposite, with a water point in summer).
(5) Turn left (hunting lodge on the right).
(6) Turn right onto the D656 (N56 on the map), then immediately left towards the recycling centre.
(7) Head slightly left towards the water tower.
(8) Take the path on the left towards the water tower and the Knopp (information board on site and panoramic view of the Albe valley and the Vosges peaks in good weather). Continue until you reach the D656.
(9) Turn immediately right onto the country lane. You’ll reach the D156f.
(10) Turn right onto it towards Eich. You’ll come to a chapel in a cemetery.
(11) Turn left and head for the bridge over the canal.
(12) Cross the bridge and take the path running alongside the Canal des Houillères. Pass under the bridge at the lock, then take the footbridge on the right to return to the Quai de l’Albe car park (S/E).
