Head to the Prodin chapel, which can be reached via La Rochette and then Presle. Long stretch of road and forest track.
(S/E) From the chapel at 1350 m, head towards the Col d'Arbarétan. The route is well marked, and although there are several intersections, just follow the yellow signs for the Col d'Arbarétan.
It is a wide track that first winds through the forest, then from Rocher de la Croix into a more open area with panoramic views.
Along the way, you will pass Rocher de la Croix (1,675 m), Bois Brûlé (1,780 m) and Grande Montagne (1,850 m).
(1) From Grande Montagne, descend to the left towards the Plan refuge (1,759 m), where the track becomes a path. Continue to follow the yellow dots to climb back up to the Col d'Arbarétan (1,850 m), with Lac des Grenouilles right next to it.
(2) At the pass – which is signposted – head south-west towards Col de la Perche.
(3) Shortly after, at the next intersection on the trail, head towards "Le Chapotet". The climb becomes a little steeper for a series of tight hairpin bends. Stay on the trail, otherwise head south-east as far as you can see.
(4) Le Chapotet is at 2,076 metres, the highest point of our hike.
Here too, there are wide panoramic views of the region's mountain ranges.
From this point, a sign points to Prodin, which is 1.5 hours away. On the descent, you will rejoin the path you took on the way up at "Grande Montagne" at 1,850 m.
(1) We will take the opposite route to return to the starting point (S/E).

Enjoy your hike. It's a shame the weather was rainy. Have a good warm-up in a quiet and pleasant area.
