Description of the walk

Parking and departure from Saint-Martin Church, Place du Révérend Père Bunel.

(S/E) From the car park, with your back to the church, turn right and take the one-way street, Rue Paul Niclausse, until you reach the first Y-junction.

(1) Ignore the roads on the right and opposite and turn into the path on the left. In the woods, follow the main path that branches off to the right, slightly uphill, at the first X-shaped crossroads. At the edge of the woods, follow the path towards the residential area, with the Scouts' house on your left, and join the road.

(2) Turn left towards the no entry sign and go down to the bottom of the street, Sentier Adolphe Botte. At the intersection, take the D104 on the right, cross it at the first pedestrian crossing and continue uphill on the right. Ignore Rue Daniel Auber on the left and after about 140 m, turn left into the concrete driveway. Cross the street (Rue Daniel Auber) and continue straight ahead until you reach the next road.

(3) Cross at the pedestrian crossing, opposite the Barentin sign, and continue along the street directly opposite, Rue Émile Éliot, a dead-end street. At the end of the straight road, continue along the path opposite, across the fields. Take the path behind the houses and turn left onto the tarmac road (Impasse du Saussay) to reach a crossroads.

(4) Turn right (Rue de Courvaudon) and cross the bridge over the A150. At the next junction, continue straight ahead towards the residential area until you reach a four-way intersection. Turn right (Rue Pasteur), pass the town hall on your left, and continue straight ahead to the Saint-Jean-d'Écalles church on Rue de l'Église.

(5) Turn left into the small lane opposite the church, leading to Closdes Ifs. At the end of the lane, take the street on the left. At the crossroads, turn right (Rue des Chrysanthèmes) and, at the end of the street, after the small car park, continue straight ahead for about 50 metres.

(6) Ignore the road on the right, Rue du Chemin Neuf, and continue straight ahead on Rue de l'Enfer until you reach number 1140.

(7) Immediately afterwards, turn right onto Rue Gadeau de Kerville and take the path opposite, which you should follow to reach the tarmac road 1,500 metres further on (Route du Paulu, D86).

(8) Continue straight ahead on the downhill road. Pass the Paulu dog club on your right. Cross the Claude Lemesle Way, a pedestrian and cycle path known as the Green Way. Walk alongside the old Paulu railway station and immediately turn left onto Impasse du Moulin.

(9) At the end of the cul-de-sac, turn onto the first path on the left. Cross the cycle path and continue along the path opposite. Continue along this path for about 1000 m.

(10) Leave the path and continue straight ahead on the cycle path until you reach the wooden barrier at the intersection with the road.

(11) Cross the road and continue straight ahead, still on the Claude Lemesle cycle path. Follow this path for about 3000 m until you reach the foot of the viaduct. Do not go under the viaduct arch, but turn left onto the path between the viaduct and the football pitches. At the end of the path, turn right and go under the viaduct arch.

(12) Cross the road, Rue de l'Ingénieur Locke, and turn left. After the bridge, go around the small roundabout on the right, cross at the pedestrian crossing and return towards the viaduct. Pass under the arch again and immediately turn right onto the small path along the viaduct. Cross Rue du Général Sarrail and continue straight ahead, climbing the fairly steep hill to Barentin station.

(13) Cross the road, either at the pedestrian crossing (take care) or via the underground pedestrian passage in front of the station. Go down to the left and immediately turn right onto Avenue Victor Hugo to return to the car park at the starting point (S/E).

The route starts in the town but most of it is in rural areas in the neighbouring municipalities of Barentin. Best done when the weather is pleasant. The return to Barentin via the greenway is quite a long trek.
