La Rochelle - Esnandes circular loop

Departure from the Port des Minimes car park in La Rochelle.

(S/E) Go around the car park on your left to reach the Old Port via Pont du Gabut.

(1) Continue along Rue de l'Amide, then take the small footbridge over the Bassin des Yachts.
Finish going around the Old Port towards the Tour de la Chaine.

(2) Take Rue des Carmes, then turn left onto Rue Saint-Jean du Pérot, continue straight on Rue de la Monnaie, then Avenue de la Monnaie until you reach Allée du Mail.

(3) Turn left to reach the seafront, follow it on your left until you reach the casino, go around it on the right to rejoin the seafront until you reach Avenue du Fort Louis.

(4) Take the cycle path opposite on the right and continue to Bassin du Port Neuf.

(5) Leave Boulevard Winston Churchill and turn left onto Allée Léon Douzille until you reach Rue de la Tour Carrée.

(6) Turn left and continue along the seafront to the Ancienne Batterie de Chef de Baie.

(7) Turn right then left to reach the car park and then the cycle path.

(8) Take the cycle path again along Rue de Québec.

(9) At Rue Jacques Cartier, turn left, still on Rue de Québec, until you reach the next roundabout.

(10) At the roundabout, turn right onto Rue Alphonse de Saintonge. After the roundabout, continue straight ahead onto Rue de Passy, then straight ahead onto Rue Georges Tanquerey.

(11) At the corner of Rue Georges Tanquerey, take the small path that starts on the right to reach Rue de Royan.

(12) Turn left up Rue de Royan and continue straight ahead, crossing the four-lane road (N237) and joining the cycle path.

(13) Continue left on the cycle path towards the ocean until you reach the Île de Ré bridge.

(14) Turn right and follow the ocean to Port du Plomb.

(15) On the road, go up towards the oyster seller and immediately after, turn left onto the cycle path.

(16) Go around Port du Plomb on the right and take the footbridge, then continue along the ocean to Pointe Saint-Clément.

(17) At Pointe Saint-Clément, follow the sign for the orientation table and continue to Esnandes.

(18) At Rue de la République, take Rue des Frères Guenon opposite until you reach Rue des Forêts.

(19) Continue right then left along Rue de Chypre until you reach Rue de l’Église.

(20) Turn right onto Rue de l'Église, then left at the next roundabout and take the first street on the left, Rue de la Métairie, until you reach the D202E1.

(21) Turn right onto the D202E1 road until you reach the roundabout on the D10 road.

(22) Cross the D10 just after the roundabout and turn left to continue on the D202E1 road to Villedoux via Rue de l'Océan.

(23) At the end of Rue de l'Océan, turn left onto Rue de la Liberté, then straight on onto the D20 until you reach the bridge over the Marans Canal.

(24) Just before reaching the bridge, turn right onto the cycle path (the Vélodyssée) that runs alongside the Marans Canal.

(25) At Mouillepied, turn slightly right, cross the four-lane road (N11) and continue for a few metres.

(26) At Rue des Hérissons, turn left twice to return to the canal banks, then continue right towards La Rochelle until you reach Boulevard Joffre.

(27) Cross the bridge on the left, then continue right along the basin to Rue de l'Ouvrage in Cornes.

(28) Turn right then left into Rue du Rempart Saint-Claude, continue to Quai Georges Simenon and return to the first crossroads towards Pont du Gabut.

(1) Turn left, cross Pont du Gabut and retrace your steps to the Port des Minimes car park (S/E).
