Description of the walk

Start from the Chemin de l'Arquebuse car park in Crécy-la-Chapelle. For access by train, see the practical information.

(S/E) Head east, follow theGR®1(red and white markings) and walk alongside a small canal on your right. Take the footbridge and continue in the same direction.

(1) Take the footbridge over the Grand Morin. Turn right and follow the path along the riverbank. Keep to the right to reach the road.

(2) First turn left then right. At the top of the hill, turn right. At the road, take the path on the left that leads through the fields. On the descent, keep left then right. Leave the steepest paths on your left. At the Fork in the road, turn left and join the D20 at the entrance to Serbonne.

(3) Head left along the road then cross the Grand Morin again. Enter Serbonne and follow the main street. Pass Rue de la Ferme then Ruelle Judas. The path through the fields leads to a road.

(4) Follow the tarmac road to the right, then take thefirst path on the left. You will reach the hamlet of Moulin de Coude.

(5) In front of No. 135, first turn left then right. Leave the banks of the Grand Morin at the Fork in the road. After the electricity pylon, turn right then do the same at the crossroads to reach the Grand Morin.

(6) Cross the river, ignoring the path that climbs to the right. The path runs alongside an orchard and leads to a road at Prémol.

(7) Carry straight on along the path. Turn left, cross the railway line and turn right. Head down a path on the right. Cross the D20 and reach another junction.

(8) Go straight on, then take the path on the left below the railway line. Ignore the path along the railway line behind the barrier. Continue until you reach the D20E1.

(9) Follow the road for 50 metres then turn right. Keep right at the Fork in the road. Go under the railway line. At the road, turn right.

(10) Cross the Ru de Binel on the left. At the end of the telephone line, at the crossroads, carry straight on. In the Crécy Forest, the path runs along the right-hand side of a private property (hunting reserve). You will then reach a crossroads with several directions.

(11) Leave the red and whiteGR®markings hereandturn into thefirst lane on the right. At the following junctions, keep going in the same direction. Cross a stream and continue straight on. Pass several watchtowers. You will reach another multi-way junction.

(12) Keep to the right without entering the private property (hunting reserve). After turning left at the junction in front of plot 33, turn right and continue straight on until you reach the D21 road at a place called Grand Buisson.

(13) Turn right onto it , then follow it to the left very carefully. You will reach a six-way junction.

(14) Turn left onto the yellow-markedPR® trail, walk between the fields, go straight on at the crossroads, and reach the edge of the Bois des Avernes.

(15) Turn right at the edge of the woods. Take thefirst path on the left. Cross a track, ignore a path coming from the left, then turn left. At the Fork in the road, keep right.

(16) Keep going in the same direction as you cross the road. Turn right into Rue du Tertre. At the stop sign, turn right and ignore the cul-de-sac. Take the path on the left behind the wooden gate. First turn left then right. At the Fork in the road, turn left. At the bottom of the cemetery, head towards the centre of Crécy-la-Chapelle. Cross the Grand Morin one last time. Stay on Rue Dam Gilles until the crossroads. Turn slightly right. The street crosses a canal. Turn left onto Rue du Général Leclerc. Pass to the right of the town hall to cross another canal and return to the car park on Chemin de l’Arquebuse (S/E).

Please note: the route for this walk has been altered between points 7 and 8. The GR1 has been diverted at this point and the underpass beneath the railway line originally planned is closed: after point 7, instead of continuing straight on towards the path, you should turn left towards Prémol. Then take the first right to cross the railway line, then the first path on the right to reach point 8 by following the GR1.

This is a very beautiful walk offering lovely, varied scenery (fields, paths through the undergrowth and woodland). The first half of the route is mainly through the undergrowth and fields, and the second half through woodland, which is pleasant when walking in hot weather. At this time of year, the fields of flowering rapeseed add an extra touch of charm to the route.
However, it is strongly advised against undertaking this hike after periods of rain, as the ground becomes extremely muddy. It is best to go after several days of fine weather (ideally around ten), as some sections may be impassable in wet conditions.

Beautiful hike but with difficulties:
Point 3: descent towards Serbonne very slippery
Point 7: do not turn, but continue towards Prémol, then turn right and pass under the railway bridge, then turn right again along the track and return to point 8.
In general, the paths on this route are very muddy, slippery and difficult to walk on.

A very pleasant walk in lovely autumn weather. Very varied.
Some paths in the Crécy forest are rutted. Passed through muddy patches. What would the condition of these paths be like in the middle of winter?
A very pleasant arrival in Crécy via the rampart walk.
At point 5, we missed the continuation of the GR1 and ended up in Tigeaux.
We missed the turn-off to the right at point 11. So two and a half detours in total, nothing too bad.
Between points 13 and 14, a slightly tricky stretch on the RD21 due to the traffic. Keep well to the left.

A very pleasant but fairly challenging hike. Lots of hills to climb, but also plenty of scenic viewpoints. A very varied route, taking in villages, the Grand Morin river, woodland, and even a small, very moving Protestant cemetery just on the outskirts of Crécy-la-Chapelle.
At point 11, I got lost in the forest and had to cross through the scrub, but thanks to the GPS I managed to find my way back.
At point 13, you walk along the road for 1 km and it’s frankly unpleasant to have cars brush past you.
This road is flanked on both sides by private woodland.
Apart from that, it’s a really lovely walk, though it must be a bit tricky in wet weather...
