Park near the post office or town hall on the D963.
(S/E) With your back to the post office or town hall, go up the D963 towards Trelon, and take the first road on the left, Rue Sainte Hiltrude, which then becomes a footpath. Continue straight ahead. This path is also the GRP® de l'Avesnois, marked in red and yellow.
Pass a pond, then a blockhouse, and at the first crossroads, turn right.
(1) Continue along the gravelled forest road towards the D963 to the south-west.
(2) Carefully cross this road, near the house the path continues on your right, parallel to the D963.
Continue straight ahead until you reach the pond and the rear of Château de la Motte. The path is not always visible in summer, due to the vegetation.
(3) 20m before the carriageway, your path goes off to the left, parallel to the carriageway. You can see the château and pond below on your right.
Continue along this path through valley after valley, ford after ford, following the GRP®.
(4) After a stream, turn right at an acute angle into the Laie du Loup ('looped path') and continue straight ahead until you reach the road opposite the Grand Étang.
(5) Go left, then straight on into the Route Forestière de l'Étang de Breucq.
(6) At the junction, turn right, then straight on to the Voie Verte.
(7) Follow this road on the left to the first junction. (You are now leaving the GRP®.).
(8) Turn right and continue straight on the Route Forestière du Chemin Vert until you reach the Maison Forestière de Sains.
(9) Turn right. You're back on the GRP®, in the Chemin des Moines. Continue straight on, passing the entrance to Château de la Motte.
(10) At the crossroads, take the Rue de la Forge road alongside the pond and continue straight ahead.
(11) At the junction, keep right. You're now back in the centre of Liessies village. At the next junction, turn left towards your car park near the post office or town hall(S/E).
