Sablas Circular Route

From Montfrin, head towards Meynes and park at the car park of the René Seydoux municipal swimming pool in Meynes.

(S/E) With your back to the swimming pool car park, head right (Chemin des Aires) towards Meynes. Continue along the road to the Place de la Mairie.

(1) Turn right onto Route de Nîmes, then immediately left onto Avenue de la Cabane. Continue along Chemin de la Manade, which climbs up opposite, then continue along the dirt track. Watch out for the bulls grazing on the left. At the road, at the top of the hill, turn left and continue straight on, passing to the right of the cross, until you reach the next junction.

(2) Turn right then continue straight on until you reach the railway line.

(3) Walk 200 m to the left, then turn right and cross the level crossing. Turn left at the bullring and continue straight on (Chemin de Marguerittes), ignoring the streets of the housing estate on your right. Continue to the four-way junction at the end of the street.

(4) Turn right (Allée de la Gare) then cross the D6086 (caution: dangerous junction), go under the motorway and continue straight on until you reach the three-way junction by the recycling centre.

(5) Turn left and head towards a side road. Turn left towards Cabrières to reach a junction at No. 25.

(6) Turn right (D3), then continue straight on along Rue du Cardinal de Cabrières, following it to the junction with a cross in the centre. Carry on straight ahead, ignoring the^first road on the right. Pass in front of the castle, then turn right onto the steeply ascending Rue de la Carrièrrasse and reach a junction with a wayside cross on the left (Route de Collias, D3).

(7) Turn right and climb for 1 km up a steep hill until you reach the first road on the right at the top of the pass.

(8) Follow the small road which turns into a track. Continue straight on, keeping the Lédenon motor racing route on your right.

(9) Continue straight on and stay on the main track before beginning a steep descent on a gravel track towards Remoulins, then turn right onto the cycle path running alongside the D981 (Avenue du Pont du Gard). Continue to the roundabout.

(10) Follow the signs for the Voie Verte towards Beaucaire, D6086. Caution: dangerous roundabout with heavy traffic, then turn left towards Beaucaire, D986L. Caution: very dangerous junction.

(11) Take the Voie Verte, then follow a path to the right a few metres after passing under the bridge, and continue on the Voie Verte. Keep going straight ahead, pass under the motorway bridge and reach the^third road.

(12) Turn right towards the municipal swimming pool to return to the car park at the Meynes swimming pool (S/E)

- No water points along the route.
- Route suitable for hybrid or mountain bikes (not road bikes).
- Bring repair kit (in case of a puncture): there are no houses between markers (8) and (10).

- Views of the Cévennes, Mont Ventoux and the Gardon Valley.
- Views of Saint-Bonnet-du-Gard and Remoulins.
- On arriving in Remoulins (D981 junction), just before marker (10), you can take a detour to the Pont du Gard (2 km one way) via the Voie Verte by turning left.
