Park in the large Foncouverte car park just past the Lodge-Auberge de la Fruitière when coming from Névache.
(S/E) Return along the road to the bridge over the Clarée, cross it, then turn left a few metres further on. Continue along this wide, ascending track, marked in white and red – this is theGR®57– until you reach the Chalets de Ricou.
(1) Pass through them, turn right and continue up a pleasant, winding path. You’ll reach the junction, marked by a signpost, where theGR® meets theGRP® Tour du Mont Thabor.
(2) Leave theGR® here and turn left onto theGRP®, now marked in yellow and red. Follow a gently ascending path to reach and cross the Torrent de la Cula.
(3) Turn right to follow the stream, then take a sharp left-hand bend to reach Lac de la Cula.
(4) Follow the lake along its right bank, then turn left again to quickly return to the GRP® junction.
(5) Carry on along theGRP® opposite, begin a gentle climb and reach the highest point.
(6) Continue downhill, then, at a bend, change direction and, via a series of tight hairpin bends, emerge at the junction with the Drayères military track.
(7) Turn left onto it and you will soon reach the large car park at Laval. Cross it and follow the Route de Névache for about a hundred metres. Leave the road and take the path on the right. Head for the footbridge over the Clarée. Cross the footbridge, then follow the right bank of the Clarée to reach the Chalets de Roche Noire.
(8) Continue along the right bank, occasionally veering away from it, until you reach the Pont du Jadis crossroads.
(9) Walk carefully along the road to return to the Foncouverte car park (S/E).
