Departure from the Col de Mézilhac.
(S/E) At the cross and information board, head towards Sardige, north-west, taking the wide path, clearly marked in yellow and white, which descends to the hamlet of Sardige. Ignore the various paths that cross this well-maintained path.
(1) Join the D578 and follow it to the right for about 150 metres. At the first crossroads, turn left and follow the sign for "four à pain" (bread oven). Go down this small road to the bread oven located above the road on the right. It is easily recognisable by its rounded appearance. Then take a very small path on the right for a few metres, which leads to the entrance of the oven. Continue along this path, passing between the houses to reach the road, which you cross. Follow the path straight ahead, heading north-west. Cross a bridge over the Sardige stream and continue along this path, which climbs up towards the church and joins the D578 higher up.
(2) At the crossroads, turn left for about 50 metres, then leave the D578 and turn right onto the small road that climbs up the Arnaudès stream valley. Pass a transformer and continue along this small road to the hamlet of Binaud.
(3) At the junction leading to the Vinson house, continue straight ahead (small wooden sign, not very legible: Binaud). Cross the Meynis stream and continue on the track (extension of the road).
(4) At the second fork, take the path on the right that cuts across a bend in the track and leads to the Binaud farm. Continue straight ahead on the path that runs alongside the house and continues south-west towards the Combe farm.
(5) At this three-way junction, follow the signposting along the path on the right, heading south, then west, then south-west, until you reach the Combe farm, which you will see below you on your left
(6) The path continues straight ahead along a wide track, which you follow, ignoring the various turnings on the right and left, until you reach Lachamp-Raphaël, passing at the foot of the Rocher de Raphaël.
(7) At the crossroads, take the D122 on the left towards Le Quinsou and follow the red and yellowGR® signs for the Haute Cévenne d'Ardèche. On leaving the village, continue straight ahead on the D122; at the next crossroads, follow the D354 straight ahead. You will then see the summit of the Knoll of Montivernoux on your left.
(8) After about 500m, take the path on the left (signposted Montivernoux), climb this knoll, go back down, and reach the summit, where you will discover an exceptional 360° panorama.
(9) Retrace your steps (see alternative route info). Follow the path on the left that goes around Montivernoux on the right, follow the fence to the Quinsou mast.
(10) Follow the signs for Col de Mézilhac, pass the houses and reach the small road that leads to the D122.
(11) Cross the road and follow the path opposite. Cross the gorse heath and cattle fields (close the gates behind you). Pass over a ruin.
(12) Shortly before reaching a sheepfold, the path descends to the right towards the D122. Return to the road and follow it to the left until you reach the Col de Mézilhac (S/E)
