On the D816 south of La Seyne-sur-Mer, follow the Corniche Merveilleuse.
Please note that the road is closed to motor vehicles between 15 June and 15 September (to protect the mountains from fire). This route is not recommended in rainy or stormy weather.
The car park is next to a green cistern west of hill 159, which provides access to the source of the Roumagnan (300 m away).
(S/E) The hike starts on the road (heading west) until you reach a sharp right-hand bend.
Follow the dirt track that climbs up to your left without any particular difficulty: at the top, there is a lovely view of the sea.
(1) Follow the track on your left until you reach a sign indicating the alternative route.
(2) At this sign, there is a fairly steep descent where you will sometimes need to use your hands. Proceed with caution, but it is not difficult in dry weather.
(3) At the bottom, you can take a break by following a visible path that disappears into a scree slope on an overhang (be careful, you don't have to go down) where you can see an old redoubt (Pointe du Cap Vieux) where cannons were once positioned but have mysteriously disappeared. Return to the original path
(3) Continue west on a clearly visible path. Stay alert on this section, which is like a balcony.
(4) As you pass through a small area of bamboo fencing, look out for an old wash house and a trickle of water. Continue to a fork (Montjoie) which will take you up a steep, narrow track to the ridge.
Less than 50 m before reaching the crossroads (viewpoint) that will take you back to the car park, a small track branches off to the right, runs alongside a stone ruin and leads to an old three-level observation bunker.
Return via the same track you took to climb up to the ridge. This will take you back to the car park (S/E).
