Park in the car park of the Maison de la Randonnée et du Trail (Hiking and Trail Centre) near the Col de Crie.
(S/E) From the roundabout, take the road towards Saint-Mamert, Saint-Jacques and Ouroux for about 200 metres.
(1) At thefirst intersection, ignore the two roads and take the path following the arrows for "Collège de Monsol" (blue and red signs). Continue to the Croix du Pendu crossroads, which you will reach after a fairly steep climb.
(2) Take the path on the left through the woods, following the signs for "La rando des châteaux". This wide path descends to a small tarmac road at Croix des Essarts.
(3) Turn right. Pass through a place called l'Avernier, with a large stone house on the left. The tarmac disappears. Continue along the wide path with a magnificent view of the valley.
(4) Keep right at the three-way junction and walk along the castle grounds and the small lake on your left. Join a small tarmac road and turn left towards the small wash house. Follow this road for about 300 metres and turn right at the first intersection.
(5) Turn right again. Pass the Champbenard farm on your right and continue for about 250 m.
(6) Take the first path on the right (small yellow MTB sign). Follow this path for 50 metres, then turn onto the path that climbs to the left. Continue along this path, which climbs gently through the woods, leaving the path on the right. Continue to a multiple junction.
(7) Take the wide path furthest to the right, which follows theGR®76(white and red markings), heading towards Avenas, Col de Crie. You are now on the Chemin des Crêtes, Chemin de Compostelle. Keep following the markings. When you leave the forest and arrive at a place called Bois Levent, you will have a beautiful view of the hills. You will reach a crossroads at the Cuisset wooden cross.
(8) Cross the small road and continue on the wide path that climbs to the right, following theGR®76AandGR®765N(picnic table). Continue along this very pleasant path, on the edge of the forest and then through the undergrowth, to reach the Croix du Pendu.
(2) Descend straight down the path you took at the start of the hike and return to the car park (S/E).
