The Chestnut Circular in Marat

Park near the church, on Impasse Saint-Clair.

(S/E) Head towards the primary school, turn left onto Route Saint-Clair, walk past the town hall, then turn left onto Chemin de la Bertigne. About a hundred metres further on, turn right for about 50 metres until you reach a path.

(1) Take this track on the left towards Darnapesse and you will come to a junction.

(2) Turn left at the junction, head towards Darnapesse and walk through the hamlet.

(3) Turn right, cross the road and continue straight ahead towards Le Bouchet. Pass through the hamlet, keeping to the left, and reach Fougère.

(4) Turn right. Go uphill, then turn right again at the four-way junction. You’ll reach another multi-way junction; continue to the left until you reach a crossroads.

(5) Keep to the right and follow the path, which is circular and loops to the left into the Communal de Rucheix. Stay on this path, ignoring the offshoots on either side, until you reach a T-junction.

(6) Ignore the track running perpendicular to the left and carry on straight ahead to reach La Sauvedie.

(7) Turn left, pass the fountain and continue straight on until you reach a three-way junction.

(8) Turn left, emerge onto a road at Chantegrelle, and continue to the right towards Marat, following the tarmac road until you reach a right-hand bend.

(9) Leave the road and take the path on the left, which curves to the right further on and leads onto Rue de l’Église. Turn right, walk past the cemetery and head towards the church. Just before the church, cut left and head towards Impasse Saint-Clair (S/E).
