Nonglard circular loop via the Champ du Loup

A circular hike starting from the village of Nonglard, passing through the hamlets of Vaux to reach the Col d'Angely. The descent towards Sillingy offers a beautiful view of the Annecy basin and, beyond, the Aravis and Mont Blanc massifs. Le Champ du Loup is the halfway point of this hike, which then returns to Nonglard via the hamlet of Quincy.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park next to the playground, at the junction of Route de Monthoux and Route de la Pièce.

(S/E) Turn left as you leave the car park and follow Route de Monthoux, then Chemin de Vaux, which descends to the Ruisseau des Courbes; cross the stream to reach the hamlet of Mornaz.

(1) Turn right onto Route de Nonglard (D44), leaving it after about 300 metres to turn right onto Chemin du Pessey.

(2) At the end of the road, continue along a path leading to the hamlet of Biolley. Continue along the Chemin du Praz and head straight up to the Route de Sillingy, which you should cross with care ( no pedestrian crossing) to reach the Chemin du Col d’Angély.

(3) Turn right towards the Col d'Angély: signs indicate the route. After a left-hand bend, follow the road to reach the pass.

(4) Take the local road from Vaux to Sillingy, on the right, until you reach the junction with Chemin de l’Écluse.

(5) Turn right and continue for about 350 m. Pass the Chemin du Champ du Loup on your left and take the path on the right that climbs towards the Bois Brûlés. Keep heading south, ignoring the adjacent paths, and continue straight on along the Chemin Ducret Dumont. You will reach a crossroads where several paths meet.

(6) Go straight on to stay on Chemin Ducret Dumont and join the D3.

(7) Turn left to follow this fairly busy road. A hard shoulder keeps vehicles at a safe distance. You will reach the hamlet of Quincy.

(8) Leave the road and take a path slightly to the right leading to a market garden. Keep right at the long farm building and continue downhill.

(9) Pass the Chemin des Châtaigniers on your left and turn right onto the Chemin de la Boise, crossing part of the Bois de Loye. You will reach the junction with the Chemin des Savus.

(10) Continue straight on to reach the first houses of Nonglard. Pass a crossroads with a wayside shrine and arrive at Vers la Ville.

(11) Turn right onto Route de Chez Cruz and head for the car park (S/E).

A leisurely walk in the countryside, very well signposted, alternating between roads, tracks and footpaths. It passes through two wooded areas, which provide welcome shelter from the heat. The elevation gain is manageable, with a short climb at the start of the route. There aren’t really any spectacular views, but it’s a lovely outing in the countryside, suitable for walkers of all abilities.
