Circular route from Saint-Patrice Chapel, starting from Pierrevert

Park at the village entrance when approaching from the D6.

(S/E) Follow Rue du Quair, passing the post office. You will soon reach the junction of Rue du Quair and Avenue Auguste Bastide.

(1) Keep straight on along Rue du Quair. Continue straight on, taking Avenue Marius Grassi opposite. Walk downhill, passing under some large holm oaks, until you reach a junction where there is a wash house.

(2) Follow the path on the left, then, about a hundred metres further on, turn right onto Chemin des Fourques. This path, which gets narrower and narrower, becomes a track; follow it. At the end of this path, you’ll reach the junction by a picnic area.

(3) Turn left, passing in front of Saint-Patrice Chapel. Continue along the tarmac road as it descends; ignore the first path branching off to the right, then, about a hundred metres further on, take the Chemin des Hougues, also to the right. Go round the house on the left and join the Route de Mautemps, also on the left. At the next junction, turn right onto Boulevard François Billoux. Walk past a power line pylon and you will then come to the Canal de Manosque.

(4) Turn left onto the path running alongside the canal and follow it until you reach Route de Mautemps.

(5) Cross the road and continue along the edge of the canal. Pass under the power lines and reach the tarmac Chemin de la Sourde.

(6) Leave the canal and turn left onto the Chemin de la Sourde. At the next junction, take the Chemin du Resplandin straight ahead.
Note: to avoid the tarmac, follow the small path on the right which runs alongside the vineyard to the school. Then head for the junction with Avenue Auguste Bastide.

(7) Turn right onto it and continue along it until you reach the junction you passed on the way out.

(1) Turn right and follow the route back in the opposite direction to return to the car park at the entrance to the village (S/E).

There is no drinking water along the route. The path leading up to the chapel is steep and very narrow; walking shoes are not essential, but avoid high heels. The route runs alongside an unprotected irrigation canal; it is not recommended to bring children here.

Between (3) and (4) Look out for a curious little bell tower peeking out from the trees above a house.
Between (7) and (1) Just before you reach your destination, on Avenue Auguste Bastide, you might be tempted to sample the wines from the Petra Viridis cooperative winery in the Pierrevert AOC.
