Description of the walk

Parking on a grassy area at the bottom of Puimoisson, on the D56 Route de Moustiers.

(S/E) Cross the D56 carefully, going round the tree, to follow the clearly visible yellow markings heading north-east. Pass the hamlet of La Tuilière.

(1) Turn right towards Puimoisson aerodrome. Cross a ford and pass the hamlet of Rème (on the left-hand side of the map). The path becomes a tarmac road. Continue to the D56, going round a campsite. Then keep the campsite on your right as you go round it.

(2) Turn right onto the wide path, keeping the airfield on your right, and continue to the D56.

(3) Turn right onto the D56 and follow it for about 200 m. Then take the path leading off to the left, before Grenouillet. Continue to the hairpin bend.

(4) Turn right towards the Notre-Dame Chapel. Follow the signposts to the sewage treatment plant.

(5) Turn right, keeping the sewage treatment plant on your right. The path then leads back to the starting point (S/E).

A very pleasant walk with magnificent autumn colours. As much of the route is not shaded, it may be best not to do this walk in hot weather. Note that just after point 3, we had to continue along the D56 as the path to point 4 was too muddy following the previous days' rain.

A lovely, easy walk. The route is easy to follow, varied and matches the description. There’s practically no traffic on the tarmac section (access to the airfield), nor any shade. Towards the end of the walk (between 4 and 5), we had to take our shoes off to cross the ford… and wade through the water. The stream was too wide at the sides to jump over. There was certainly a lot of water, likely due to the rain and storms in the preceding days. Well worth a go.

A lovely route featuring beautiful scenery and significant elevation changes. However, please note that there is a tarmac section of around 2.5 km, including 500 metres on a fairly busy local road. I highly recommend this route.
