Jagée loop via La Borde

A lovely, varied walk that follows an old railway line and farm tracks through flat countryside and forest, passing through two small villages. Depending on the season, you may be lucky enough to find wild walnuts along the old railway line.

Description of the walk

Parking at the edge of a fairly deep ditch, near the Grande Haye farm.

(S/E) Head north past the farm, turn left and then right, carefully crossing the RD173 at a kennel.

(1) From the kennel, join the path on the old railway line, follow it to the left until you reach the old gatekeeper's house, then continue to the RD173.

(2) Cross the RD173 with caution, turn left and right again to rejoin the path on the old railway line.

(3) Go under a bridge that crosses the path and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads.

(4) Turn right onto a white road that runs alongside an apple orchard. Follow the orchard and the hedge that extends from it, passing a lay-by for motorhomes (there are public toilets at the lay-by).

(5) Continue along the small road, cross the hamlet of La Borde and continue to Ferme Saint-Philippe.

(6) Shortly after the farm, turn right onto a grassy path that runs alongside a large park (pasture) and follow it to the entrance to Gervillier.

(7) After the first farm on the right, turn right onto a farm track, ignore the next intersection and continue to a T-junction with another farm track.

(8) Turn right onto this road and continue to the bridge over the old railway line.

(3) Continue on the other side along a grassy farm track at the edge of the fields.

(9) At the next intersection, turn left onto a large white road and follow it until you reach the parking area (S/E).
