Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the entrance to the hamlet of La Foux.

(S/E) Cross the hamlet and follow the red markings. You will reach a crossroads after passing through a barrier.

(1) Turn right to begin the ascent. Pass through the hamlet of Saint-Joseph and continue on to reach the Pas de la Foux.

(2) Take theGR®9on the left and follow the red and white markings. Walk along the ridge, alternating between small ascents and descents. You will reach Colle de Terre Blanche.

(3) Continue along the ridge, enjoy the view before reaching another crossroads.

(4) Leave theGR®9and take the path on the left. Atthe first large cairn, turn left to begin the descent. Be careful, this descent is quite steep and can be slippery in wet weather.
You will soon come to a pink and/or blue marker, which you should follow. After a 90° left turn, you will reach the Font de Luc track. Follow it straight ahead until you reach a crossroads marked by a cistern.

(5) Take the path on the right. Please note that this path is not marked on the IGN map but is shown on the OSM map. Then follow the right bank of the Règue de Robert. You will then come back to the initial crossroads you passed on the way there.

(1) Turn right and follow the same route as on the way there to return to the Foux car park (S/E).

Notes

(S/E) The La Foux car park is large enough and very easy to park in (at least out of season).
This is a relatively easy hike, but it is best to avoid days when it has rained or the day after, as the descent is quite steep. It is also best to wear good shoes, as the paths are very stony, as is often the case in Provence.
There is no water on the route.
You can extend the hike a little by going via the Tour du Faucon from (5).

7 km from the Maire des Eaux, many springs flow after the week's rains. Compliant except for the private track to Font de Luc.

A lovely hike alternating between village paths, woodland trails and wide tracks.
Be careful at point 5: stay on the forest path and descend until you rejoin the route. The path on the right at the cistern is private.

A beautiful, well-balanced hike! A mix of stony paths and shaded trails between the trees, it's perfect for varying the scenery and the feel underfoot.

The fact that it is easy makes it accessible to all, and if the sun is shining, it promises magnificent light on the panoramic views. An ideal hike to enjoy the great outdoors without too much effort, while taking the time to admire the view.

At the end of level 5, there is a private passageway with a fence blocking the way. You will need to go around it.

Done with children aged 8 and 3 (carried for 2/3 of the way but successfully climbed).
Short detour to a cave on the right as you climb, Grand Vallat resurgence?
Please note that the return route, which is not shown on the IGN map, appears to be on private property. Private property sign, brand new chain and widening work in progress.
Thank you for this perfect hike under the February sun 🙂

A three-hour hike with a good climb and, above all, a very pleasant route along the ridge with beautiful views.
The descent is rocky but not particularly difficult.

Care is needed on the descent in wet conditions as it could be dangerous.
Be careful when using a satnav to find the starting point car park; mine took me through an impassable route.

The distance needs to be revised: 7.6 km advertised, 9.5 km on the ground (GPS). Elevation gain approximately 550 m.
A few views of the cliffs, but mostly through vegetation.
From point 4, the descent, which is described as steep, is almost acrobatic, with the rest of the route through rocks and dense vegetation.
For experienced hikers.

The only interesting thing about this hike is discovering a section of the Cuers ridge. Otherwise: (a) the climb between 1 and 2 is tough and monotonous; (b) the descent between 4 and 1 is monotonous; (c) at point 5 (cistern), it is not possible to take the indicated path because it passes through private property and is blocked by a chain. Therefore, you must take the wide forest path that descends into the valley.
