Park in the town hall car park.
(S/E) Leave the car park, cross the D76 (Rue Louis Chanut), and follow it to the right for about fifty metres. Then turn left, go up the street that runs between two houses and turns into a path with steps on one side, which climbs steeply.
(1) Continue straight ahead until you reach a tarmac road (Impasse des Rameaux), which you follow to the junction with the Route de l’Ollagnière (view of the Dorlay Dam).
(2) At the cross, head down the path on the left which runs alongside a meadow, then winds its way before climbing again to join the tarmac road that passes through the hamlet of Ollagnière (with some beautiful, renovated old buildings) on the right. Turn left and take thesecond road on the right.
(3) Take this road, which climbs towards Champin; as you emerge from the trees, you’ll see a panoramic view of the Monts du Lyonnais to your left. Follow the road as it winds its way up in wide hairpin bends to reach the centre of the hamlet of Champin.
(4) Turn right and take the stony track that runs alongside a lean-to, where you can see an old ‘workshop’ for shoeing horses. Follow the path that runs alongside and overlooks a wooded field; it continues through the undergrowth before turning into a grassy track and leading out onto a forest lane.
(5) Take this track to the right, towards Collet de Doizieux, and you’ll reach a tarmac road running across the path.
(6) Opposite, near the cross, take the stony path which slopes down slightly (on the right, views of Doizieux and Saint-Just) and joins a path junction.
(7) Turn sharply left, towards Collet de Doizieux. Follow the forest track through the woodland, which climbs and joins a tarmac road. Follow this road to the left until you reach the first Fork in the road on the right.
(8) Turn right and take the forest path which climbs gently and leads to the small pass of Doizieux.
(9) At the small pass of Collet, where an inn welcomes you for refreshments, take the D63 to the left, follow the bend and head down into the car park on the left (viewpoint over the Rhône and its valley). At the end, turn left onto the Haufond forest road and Park Trail No. 3. Follow it, keeping to the right, passing by the hamlet of Le Châtelard to reach the Croix de Montvieux, discovering further views along the way.
(10) Cross the D62 and take the gravelled path opposite, heading towards the Croix de Mazet. At thefirst Fork in the road, continue to the right; then at thesecond Fork in the road, just after that, continue to the left (panoramic view of the Monts du Lyonnais and the Forez). Follow a forest path through the undergrowth leading to the Croix du Mazet.
(11) Turn left onto the tarmac road, then veer slightly to the right onto the Route du Carré. Follow this road,
passing the animal enclosures, then continue to the right and pass the animal care farm. Join a winding natural track which ends at a tarmac road leading down to the centre of the hamlet of Montieux.
(12) Turn left and take the tarmac track which descends towards Le Maigre. At the Fork in the road, keep left, following the natural path as it descends; cross the stream and head up to the right to reach the hamlet of Le Maigre. Take the tarmac road and walk through the hamlet.
(13) About a hundred metres further on, take the natural path on the right which leads onto a tarmac road called Chemin du Fieu. Follow it straight ahead, cross the hamlet of Le Fieu and continue along the path straight ahead. At the next junction, turn right onto the stony path which descends and ends in the hamlet of L’Orme.
(14) Go round the house on the right to follow the tarmac road which curves to the left. A little further on, take the path which climbs slightly to the left, signposted “La Terrasse-sur-Dorlay”. Follow the road alongside it, pass the access path to the Maison de la Tresse and carry on to join the D7.
(15) Follow the road to the right, then turn left to reach the town hall car park (S/E).
