Park in the car park at the entrance to the village of Chambles.
(S/E) Head towards the village centre. To do this, take theGRP® des Gorges de la Loire trail, marked in yellow and red. Pass in front of the town hall. Then turn right and walk past the church steps. Go around the church via the Chemin de Ronde.
(1) Turn right and continue along the Chemin du Cohard.
(2) Turn right onto Chemin des Giorts. Continue straight ahead until you reach the cross. Turn left until you reach the cross at the entrance to the hamlet of La Garde.
(3) Turn right. Pass an old wash house and climb up into the hamlet. Turn right onto Chemin de la Garde, then left onto Rue du Parc and continue straight on until you reach Chemin de l'Essalois.
(4) Turn right and continue straight on to Château de l'Essalois.
(5) Walk alongside the château and turn left. Continue on theGRP® trail, descending through the woods until you reach a road, Chemin de Cessieux.
(6) Follow this road until you reach the D108. Cross it carefully, then turn left to enter the hamlet of Cessieux.
(7) Turn right onto Route de Noailleux to reach this hamlet at the crossroads.
(8) Leave theGRP® here and take the path downhill to the left. Reach the Le Jaraison stream and climb up the other side. Be careful, the ground can be slippery in wet weather: there are granite rocks and tree roots with a steep gradient. Reach a road, cross it carefully and continue to Notre-Dame de Grâce.
(9) Turn right and take Allée des Tilleuls, which joins Chemin du Pont Blanc. Turn left and continue to a four-way crossroads.
(10) Take the path on the left that crosses over a stream and joins the D32. Cross it carefully. At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead and you will soon reach theGRP® des Gorges de la Loire.
(11) Take the wide path that runs alongside Saroux and then Chavanne before joining the D108.
(12) Cross it with great caution to reach the Chambles car park (S/E).
