Park near the restaurant in Oberhof, which is located near the junction of the D133 from Dossenheim s/Zinsel to Phalsbourg and the D122 from Graufthal. It is best not to leave your car at the side of the road or in the restaurant car park: there is space along theGR®53leading south.
(S/E) From there, follow the D133 for about 300 metres, which merges with theGR®53(red rectangle), heading west towards Phalsbourg, then turn right and continue for about 200 metres, still on theGR®53, red rectangle.
(1) Climb to the left towards Graufthal, following the yellow rectangle markings. After a fairly steep but not very long climb, walk along the hillside, parallel to the southern Zinsel river, with a beautiful view of the Grosshammerweier pond. Then the path begins to descend, still towards Graufthal.
(2) At the junction with the red ring markings, turn right, away from Graufthal, heading south-east. After a right-hand bend and at the end of the next left-hand circular, leave the main path and descend to the left along the path still marked with red rings towards Schiertorfelsen.
Please note: contrary to the IGN map, the path does not descend in a straight line towards the valley but winds a little (fortunately!) until you reach Schiertorfelsen.
Literally "barn door rocks", these are seven to eight metre high arch-shaped rocks (photo).
(3) Then continue downhill until you reach theGR®53.
(4) Take theGR®53, marked with a red rectangle, to the left, heading north-northwest, until you reach the road (D158) from Grauthal to Pfalzweyer, and turn right onto the main road D122. Turn left to head towards the village centre. At the next crossroads, turn left and walk past the pretty village church, crossing the road (D122) at thesecond pedestrian crossing. Between the chapel and the houses, there is a beautiful view to the left (west) of the troglodyte houses (photo), and to the right (east) of the arcades of the former Graufthal Abbey (11th-16th centuries), uncovered in 2018 (photo).
Turn right onto Rue des Fontaines, then left, heading north, onto Rue du Moulin Vieux.
(5) After the last house in the hamlet, opposite the restaurant's pond: Au Vieux Moulin, go up to the right onto the Anneau Jaune marked path. After 100 m, turn completely right and head south.
(6) At the next crossroads, stay on the Anneau Jaune marked path to the right. A few hundred metres further on, pass in front of the Weyerstell fountain (photo).
(7) Continue along the path and pass the Ribpfaedel fountain (photo).
(8) Continue along the Anneau Jaune marked path to reach the road that climbs from the D122 to Eschbourg.
(9) Cross the road carefully. Go straight ahead to the end of the clearing.
(10) Descend to the right along a path. Join a wider path, heading due west, descending to the D122 road.
(11) Cross the road carefully and follow it for less than 100 metres in a north-westerly direction (towards Graufthal). Then turn left to cross the Zinsel. You will then arrive at theGR®53.
(12) Turn left, heading south-east, onto the path marked with a red rectangle and follow the Zinsel and its meanders.
This will take you back to the fork in the road you came from.
(1) Continue straight ahead. When you reach the D133 road, turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).
