Ballon d'Alsace - Giromagny

(S) Take the path behind the inn to the first bend. Turn right, following the red rectangle, and follow the road. Then tackle a small hill, staying on the opposite side before entering the forest. On the other side, begin a descent along a ski slope. You will arrive at La Chaumière, located at the end of the descent.

(1) Continue straight ahead and pass in front of the refuge, leaving the road on your right. At the fork at the foot of the Tête des Redoutes, keep right to follow the road. Then cut across a discreet track and continue south to the bridge-tunnel.

(2) Keep right towards Gentiane. Stay straight ahead until the next junction. Climb straight up the slope to the right of a ski slope, towards Plain de la Gentiane. Go past the summit to rejoin the slope further on.

(3) Continue straight ahead. Then leave the access to the Virgin Mary statue and the summit of Wissgrut on your left. Keep going until you reach the crossroads after the farm of the same name.

(4) Descend to the right towards Giromagny and Belfort. Then continue straight ahead, leaving the forks on the right and left until you reach an old road marker indicating Gros Hêtre and Malvaux.

(5) Keep going straight ahead and ignore the adjacent tracks, which are completely abandoned, to reach the Col du Chantoiseau shelter.

(6) Follow the track that climbs opposite. Then turn right and leave the track, taking the path that climbs to the left. Keep going straight ahead, leaving the intersections on the right and left, until you reach the source of the Auge de la Grande Roche.

(7) Continue on the first path to the right of the spring. Continuing downhill, opposite, you will come to a fork with a path.

(8) Follow this path, which starts on the left and leads to a pass.

(9) Turn 90° to the left. Continue straight ahead. Keeping to the right, you will come to an intersection with a wide gravel path.

(10) Go down this path on the right. Keep going straight ahead until you reach Château Ritter, located on the right.

(11) Continue along Rue de la Planche. Pass two forks and, at the third, turn left onto Rue des Sources. Pass a path on the right and then another on the left to reach the fork near Square des Casernes.

(12) Turn left and take the street that goes down along the square. Follow this street, Rue des Casernes, passing all the paths on the left until you reach the junction with Rue Saint Pierre before Square de la Liberté.

(13) Go down Rue Saint-Pierre, to the left of the square. Turn right, then left, before turning right again onto Rue André Maginot until you reach the Giromagny bus stop, located opposite Place du Général de Gaulle, just before the bridge over the Savoureuse (E).
