Description of the walk

Park at the Place du 14 Juillet car park via Avenue François Hue. One hour free, then 1 euro per hour.
Avoid visiting on market day, Saturday mornings, until 2.00 pm.

Note: please be aware that this walk is not signposted; it would be best to save the route on your mobile phone, which would make things easier. There are many small alleys and paths that are not easy to find if you follow the description alone.

(S/E) From the car park, head down Rue du 14 Juillet at the post office for a few metres.

(1) Turn right into Ruelle François Oustrin, walk past the Boby Lapointe Museum and you’ll come out onto Place Gambetta, formerly known as Marché au Bled. Cross this square and turn right into Rue Albert Paul Alliés, heading towards the Vulliod Saint-Germain Museum. After 40 metres, turn left into Rue Beranger, then turn left into Rue Montmorency. At the start of Rue des Litanies, turn left into Rue du Château, which is very narrow, and pass Place de l’Hôtel de Graves. Then turn left into Rue Alfred Sabatier, which leads down to Place Gambetta, and turn left into Rue Triperie Vieille. At Place Gambetta, turn right into Rue Mercière, then right into Rue Chevalier Saint-Jean, passing in front of the Collégiale Saint-Jean. Turn left onto Rue Condorcet.

(2) Follow Cours Saint-Jean until you reach a junction. Turn left onto Rue Henri Reboul. Pass the historic Théâtre de Pézenas, the Church of Sainte-Ursule and then the Pézenas Hospital. At Place Louis Paulhan, turn left onto Chemin de la Faissine (D13E4).

(3) Head left towards Place Boby Lapointe, then turn left onto Rue Joseph Cambon, left again onto Rue Massillon, then right onto Rue Marceau. Turn right onto Cours Jean Jaurès (going in the opposite direction to the outward journey), cross Place de la République and turn left onto Rue Kléber. Turn right and walk past the Collégiale Saint-Jean to reach Rue des Commandeurs.

(4) Turn right onto this street, then take a left-right turn to join Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau. At the end, turn left onto Rue Conti. At the end, at the four-way junction, turn right onto Rue des Glacières. Turn right for a few metres onto Rue Victor Hugo, then left onto Rue Ferronnerie. When you reach the Collège Sainte-Marie, turn right onto Rue Denfert Rochereau, then take the second right onto Rue Docteur Bastard. After 20 metres, turn left onto Rue de Cordille. At the end of this street, turn left onto Rue Raspail. Turn right onto Rue Anatole France, then cross Place de la République again on the right-hand side. Pass the Église Collégiale Saint-Jean on your left once more. Continue straight ahead along Place du Marché des Trois Six. Pass the Grand Hôtel Molière.

(5) At the roundabout, turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
