Start from the car park in front of the Church of Saint-Hippolyte in Fontès.
(S/E) From the car park in front of the Saint-Hippolyte church, follow the road back towards the village.
(1) Turn right onto Rue de la Calade until you reach the roundabout in the village and turn left onto Boulevard de la République.
(2) Turn left to pass under the clock tower until you reach the castle promenade, from where you can see the Céressou volcano. Continue along Rue Paul Bert. Then turn left onto Boulevard de la République until you reach Rue Traversette on your left, which you will take, then turn left onto Rue des Lanvandières until you reach Avenue Jean Moulin, where you will turn left to leave the village and enter the vineyards until you reach a parasol pine tree.
(3) Leave the road by turning right, then left, keeping an eye out for the yellowPR® signs to cross the Boyne and go up a small paved road through a vineyard until you reach a right-angle bend.
(4) At the crossroads, turn left onto the path between the vineyards and follow this path uphill under the holm oaks until you reach a hairpin bend that leads to a path overlooking the Céressou.
(5) On the balcony path, we travel across the landscape from south to north via the west, with views of the hills of Sète and Agde, then the villages of Caux and Fontès. The path then descends northwards to cross the Boyne riverbed.
(6) Cross the D124 and, just opposite, climb a path towards Pioch Molinié under the high-voltage line. Follow this path to a crossroads.
(7) Turn right and follow the track to the summit, which you will not reach as you turn left just before it.
(8) The path winds between piles of volcanic rocks to the summit of the Baumes volcano, which you follow along a shaded path.
(9) You will come out onto a small road at the Caux water tower. Follow the road, cross the D174 and immediately turn left onto a path that descends quite steeply into the undergrowth. Follow the yellow markings through the vineyards until you reach the ruins of Mazers Castle.
(10) Turn right and descend to a paved road, which you take to the left and then leave almost immediately to the right. Follow the paved slanting street and descend towards Fontès. Take Avenue Frédéric Mistral on the right until you reach Rue du Couvent on the left, which takes you back to the church and the church car park (S/E).
