Walk north-east of Condom

A lovely way to explore the Gers through vineyards, grain fields, orchards, monuments and typical little villages.

Notes

I didn’t notice any drinking water points, but passing through the villages may allow you to get some drinking water.
Bus shelters can be used in bad weather.
Take care when crossing roads.

Worth a visit

Lake Bousquera.
The hundred-year-old oak(s) at La Croix de Gensac.
The orchards of Gensac.
The church at Sieurac (restored by benefactors).
The Gers countryside at its best.

Excellent description and map, no problems, no risk of getting lost. The Gers countryside is lush and beautiful, but disappointingly uninteresting: too much tarmac, far too much tarmac...And then, at this time of year, the pilgrims are out in force... in large numbers... but heading in the opposite direction to the route. So we had to stop more than a dozen times to explain why we were going against the flow and also to explain why we had clean shoes... (sic)
That said, it’s still a walk worth doing.

A lovely, easy walk through the sunflower fields.
The GPS track is spot on. The only issue: the path at point 6 in Sieurac behind the church is blocked before joining the D931. We managed to walk along the edge of the field, but the junction with the D931 is steep but manageable.
Lots of small roads and few sunken lanes, but it was well worth it.
Thanks to the route planner.

Just outside Scieurac, the path leading to the D 931 is impassable for about 150 metres just before it joins the main road. From this main road (WayPoint 7), you cannot see where the path emerges.

Hello edromard, and thank you for your feedback.
It’s true that the description for the church in Sieurac could be clarified to state that you need to turn right to go round the back. I’m sure the author will make sure to do so.

It took us 4½ hours to complete this walk.
The signposting is good. It’s a pleasant walk.
At the start, we parked on Boulevard (or Avenue) de l’Hôpital as we couldn’t find the car park mentioned. There’s plenty of space. Also, the name of the boulevard was different (sorry, I can’t remember it now), but it is indeed the avenue mentioned in the itinerary as we found all the other signposts.
We went the wrong way at Sieurac church but managed to get back on track afterwards thanks to the map. You shouldn’t continue along the path by the church but turn right just behind it.
