Park in the car park in front of the post office or behind the Salle Duby.
(S) The route starts on Chemin des Grappons, a small road that branches off to the right near the post office.
Head down towards the cliff via Rue Saint-Roch to admire the valley, then turn right onto Chemin des Grappons, which runs alongside the valley. You will see the village of Ventabren in the distance on the opposite hill, as well as the Eguilles lookout. Enjoy the view of the valley opening up on your left.
(1) Cross the road and continue straight on Chemin de Rastel, the village's tarmac road. The walk remains peaceful, allowing you to chat with your companions while continuing to enjoy the unobstructed view of the valley on your left from time to time. The houses on your left are gradually replaced by a forest edge.
(2) Turn left onto Chemin des Fabrègues, which winds its way uphill. When the climb levels off, admire the landscape on your left, which the inhabitants of the few houses scattered in the forest on your right can see before their eyes.
(3) Leave the path and turn sharply left, descending onto a stone path. You can also continue straight ahead for another circular loop, which I will describe on another route.
Follow the marked route, and the houses will reappear on your left and right.
(4) Admire the Château d'Eguilles, which you will see above you, and turn right at the next crossroads onto Chemin du Boulidou. Continue until you reach a T-junction.
(5) Leave the road and turn left, walking alongside the vineyard. Pass the small hamlet of Valsère (a few houses) at the bottom of the valley and head towards the forest.
(6) At the crossroads, turn right uphill and continue as far as possible, keeping to your right and ignoring the paths that climb up to your left. You will find a beautiful, shady path climbing gently under the trees, and you will see the village in the distance on your right. Enjoy the scenery from time to time as you climb towards the lookout point. Take the first path on the left into a cul-de-sac towards the lookout point.
(7) At the lookout point, the valley opens up in front of you, with the village of Eguilles opposite and Sainte-Victoire in the distance. Return to the path you left and take it to the left.
(8) Turn right and take a flat, wide path. Continue straight ahead for a long time until you reach the end.
(9) Turn 90° to your right, between the forest on your right and a fence marking the boundary of a hunting estate on your left. Continue straight ahead and, after a short climb, you will come to a gate on your left.
(Note: this is the second gate at the top of the hill, not the first one.)
(10) Turn right onto the large dirt road. Pass three turnings on your left and you will reach a three-way junction.
(11) Turn left and, through the olive groves, reach a tarmac road.
(12) Cross the road and continue straight ahead on the dirt track into the forest in front of you. Continue straight ahead on this track. As you leave the forest, houses will appear from time to time and you will discover open landscapes on your left. You will reach a crossroads that you passed on the way there.
(2) Continue straight ahead to finish your walk at a leisurely pace, returning to the car park via the same route you took on the way there, but in the opposite direction.
