Access: From Espelette, take the D918 towards Saint-Jean-de-Luz. At the first intersection, take the D20 towards Ainhoa and Dancharia. After 1.6 km, at the bend, you will arrive at the Col de Pinodieta. Turn 90° left onto the small road that climbs slightly. At the next intersection, take the path on the right and park along the fence on the right or under the trees on the left. You have arrived at the start of this hike.
(S/E) Begin your hike by continuing along this path towards the south, which climbs gently without paying attention to the two paths you encounter on your right.
(1) Cross the cattle grid and continue on your right for about 250m.
(2) Take the path on the left which climbs a little steeply and seems to turn back on itself, but this is not the case as the route gently turns eastwards.
At the top of this climb, under the trees, turn right and go to the back of the sheepfold, passing through the fence using the gate provided. You will find yourself in front of a pasture for Pottoks or sheep. Go straight up to the next fence.
Near a rock, use the gate. Continue straight ahead for 200 metres, heading south, then turn slightly to the left to reach a new gate at the left corner of the fence in front of you.
(3) Go through the fence and you will find yourself on theGR®®10. The hardest part is now behind you. Climb up towards the sheepfold opposite and take the first path on the left, which is still theGR®®10, to go around Mont Errebi for about 600m on a gentle slope.
(4) Facing a trough, the water is probably not drinkable, climb up towards what looks like a pass, then continue on theGR®®10which descends and after about 750m you will arrive at the Col des Trois Croix.
(5) Head towards the southern slope of the pass, on your right, to find a fairly wide path that descends gently at first and then becomes quite steep, arriving at a new intersection after about 500 metres.
(6) At this new intersection, take the small path on your right that winds halfway up the slope of Mont Errebi. On this section of the route, you will encounter a small difficulty: a step about 50 to 60 cm high to descend. You can use a tree to hold on to and get past this small obstacle. At the end of this path, you will find several small tracks. Take the one that descends the slope towards some trees and a small building.
(7) This is the Chapel of Our Lady of Hawthorn. After visiting the chapel, turn around and go back up the slope, staying on the path on the left, which will take you halfway up the western slope of Errebi.
(8) On your right, you can see the entrance to two caves and, below, a spring water catchment and the village of Ainhoa. Continue along this path and, at the next intersection, take the path on the left that descends. Continue along this path, which ends with a slightly rough descent.
(9) You are now at the intersection with a road suitable for vehicles. Turn right. After 200 metres on this road, you will come to another intersection.
(2) Leave the path on the right and continue straight ahead. This is the path you took on the way there. Follow it to return to the starting point (S/E).
