Around Pruniers

Hike around Pruniers with a section along the banks of the Maine and a viewpoint over Angers at the promontory. This is followed by a walk through the village to discover the different periods of construction and, at the end of the route, a path through the countryside.

Description of the walk

Park in the Lac de Maine campsite car park, near the primary school.

(S/E) Head north to go around the car park, then turn right towards Lac de Maine.

(1) Turn right and continue straight ahead, walking alongside the campsite. Join the towpath.

(2) Follow it, turning right. Pass under the Pont de Pruniers bridge and continue along the Maine until you reach La Pervidière.

(3) Take the dirt track uphill to the right, which further on makes a 180° left turn to return towards the river. Go to the viewpoint and take a break to admire the landscape.

(4) Turn your back on the Maine and cross the park to reach the D111 (Route de la Moncellière).

(5) Cross it carefully and continue along the path opposite, which runs alongside the industrial estate before turning away from it to join Rue de la Piverdière. Turn left and walk for about 100 metres.

(6) Turn right onto Rue de la Perrière. Turn left at the three-way junction to reach Rue de la Châtaigneraie and turn right to follow it for about 50 metres.

(7) Take the path between the houses on the left, turn left onto Rue de la Fontaine and join Rue Merveille. Follow this road to the right until it splits and take the left fork.

(8) Take the dirt track on the left and you will come out onto Rue des Reinettes. Turn left, then right at the first crossroads, into Chemin de Vau.

(9) Take Chemin des Reinettes on the left, which winds its way between houses before coming out onto Rue des Harenchères.

(10) Cross very carefully and take the path opposite leading to Rue du Râle des Genêts, which you should follow by turning right. Go straight ahead to the end of the street, then turn left onto Rue des Moulins. Go straight ahead at the roundabout to follow Allée du Grand Servial and continue to the housing estates. Take the dirt track on the right that runs alongside a meadow.

(11) Turn right to walk alongside other housing estates and enter a small valley leading to the D111.

(12) Cross the road carefully using the pedestrian crossing and head to the car park opposite (S/E).
