Access: You need to go to Montolieu. If you are coming from Saint-Denis via the D8, the car park is at the entrance to the village. If you are coming from another direction, you need to go to the north exit of Montolieu, where there is a small car park just outside the village.
(S/E) Head north on the D8. After 300 metres, turn left onto a wide track that runs between fields of varying degrees of cultivation. After a small hut, enter the low forest and follow the ravine where the Alzeau river flows. Stay on the left track.
(1) Leave the wide track for a narrower track that climbs to the left. This path is quite stony. After the bridge over the Alzeau, climb between the fields towards the Château de Villeneuve.
(2) Pass in front of the château and turn left around the grain silos, then right and left again onto a very grassy path until you reach a tarmac road, which you take to the right. After a hundred metres and a small bridge, take a left onto a track between the forest and fields. Pass in front of some old lime kilns and continue after a right-angle bend to the right.
(3) Cross the D629 and continue opposite along a barely visible path. The path is blocked by a dead tree and is blocked behind. Pass to the left into the field and join the tarmac road that leads to Dairy Farm Grande. Continue along the road, passing in front of a large shed without walls.
(4) Turn left onto a very wide, white limestone track. Follow this track downhill to the D64.
(5) Cross it and continue along a narrower lane that climbs gently.
(6) At this crossroads, turn left at the edge of a field. In the southern corner of the field, the path continues into the forest. This path is passable by tractor but is very poorly maintained. It descends to La Frigoule.
(7) Turn left, keeping to the right of the line of cypress trees (avoid the large track as the owner does not want people walking on his property). Between two large cypress trees, cross a pile of stones on the right. Head straight ahead between a field where there are often horses and a vineyard. When you reach the tarmac road, turn left and go down the road. Pass between the two relay antennas. From there, continue along the road, which descends steeply to the D8.
(8) Turn left and enter Montolieu. At the fork, turn left onto Avenue du Mail, then Rue du Presbytère and go up Rue de la Mairie. Continue along Route de Saint-Denis (D8), which climbs quite steeply at the end of the route to reach the car park (S/E).
