For the attention of moderators: modification of the route and revision of the description following feedback from hikers reporting that the crossing at Roquenégade is now prohibited. The modification covers the route from (3) to (7).
Park under the plane trees just opposite the town hall: five to six spaces are available. Otherwise, you can park about twenty metres further on, in the street on the right that leads to the housing estate.
(S/E) Head towards the church, walk along it turning left, then take the Grand Rue on the right. Then turn left into Rue de l'Ancienne Mairie and walk past the post office to join theGR® (incorrectly marked on the IGN map).
White and redGR® markings
Turn right onto theGR® and continue for about 200 metres.
(1) At the rusty car wreck that somewhat mars the landscape, turn left and follow the markings (sign for Moulin de Couscouillette). Leave the entrance to a private property on your right and turn left onto a wide path where a car wreck lodges on the edge, a few metres further on.
Stay on the wide main path and climb gently uphill to reach the plateau. There are beautiful views on the right, where the landscape is dominated by vineyards. Ignore several paths on either side and you will come to a fork that requires attention.
(2) It is very tempting to continue straight ahead on the path you have been following, but the red and white cross on a small tree fortunately dissuades you from doing so. Turn right to cross a small mound of earth and find theGR® markings on the ground, which are not very visible at first, about ten metres further on.
The path gives way to a narrower trail that descends into a small pine forest (some sections are quite steep and difficult) and ends at the bottom of a wide valley where cultivated fields and vineyards are equally divided.
(3) Ignore the path that heads straight towards Roquenégade and turn left, skirting the wooded area. After a short climb, you will reach a wider path.
(4) Turn right and continue to an inverted Y-shaped fork.
(5) Take a sharp left turn onto a path as wide as the previous one, which winds through a small valley before reaching a clearly marked crossroads.
No markings
(6) Turn right onto a path that begins a very steep climb straight up the slope to rejoin the GR®36 at the top.
GR® white and red markings
(7) Turn right to follow the marked trail.
(8) At the trail junction, turn right and join a track at Combe de Lèdre.
(9) Keep going in the same direction and continue straight ahead until you reach a fork marked by a small cairn topped with a stick.
No markings
(10) Turn right onto a path that descends quite steeply to join the D57 below. Turn right and follow the road for about 450 m, observing the usual safety precautions.
(11) Leave the road and turn left onto a wide, stony track. Join a small tarmac road and continue straight ahead. Further on, the road loses its surface but regains it before joining the D57 you left earlier.
(12) Follow the road to the left with caution (very narrow grass verges that are not always mowed). About a hundred metres further on, cross over to take a wide path on the right, which allows you to avoid a large section of tarmac. Back on the road, continue to the right until you reach the junction at the wine cooperative (which appears to be permanently closed).
(13) Turn right.
(1) Continue straight ahead and retrace your steps to return to the Town Hall and your vehicle (S/E).
