The departure point is from the car park behind the fronton and Ateka (go between the butcher's and the fronton).
(S/E) Head south from the car park until you reach the stream, which you will cross. Follow the yellow markings through a chestnut grove, passing a small mill.
Continue until you reach the Panparrina farm and the tarmac road.
(1) Take the paved road on the left, going up past a pen with Basque pigs. Follow the road uphill for 500 metres.
(2) Turn right onto the path marked Mondarrain. This is a fairly stony and steep path. You will arrive at a small plateau with a peak (Pic Ezcondray) on your left.
(3) Continue along the path and, after the next small climb, turn left. Admire the Mondarrain opposite you.
(4) Head towards the small forest and you will find the path along the edge of the forest to descend towards Itxassou (stony path).
Look up to see the gliders in the sky.
(5) Back on the paved road, turn right until you reach the small stream, then left onto a small path with a gate further down.
(6) A little further on your left, take the path that climbs up to Mont Atharri and its cross (don't expect a large cross). This is a beautiful spot to stop for a bite to eat while admiring the landscape. Return to the path and continue downhill towards Laxia and the Pas de Roland.
(7) Continue along the road beside the Nive, crossing the lower part of Itxassou (the church and its Basque cemetery).
(8) Finally, two pretty hills to remind you that the Basque Country is not flat.
(9) At the Trinquet crossroads, turn left towards the fronton and return to the car park (S/E).
