Description of the walk

(S/E) From the Public Conveniences (see: the information board), head towards the headland on the road, between the two parking fields, to where there is a parking meter. Turn right up the hill, [Note: There are signs, "seals be quiet, etc]. At the top, the wooden barrier and short wall is the edge of the cliff and a viewing point for potential seals below in the cove.

Turn left and follow the path around to the lighthouse. At the headland, the highest point is where the Iron Age settlement was (ref: information board at the start). Continue along the cliff edge to the gate. At the gate, there are several path options; taking the left path leads back to the conveniences. The other paths lead to the beach and further along the coast (S/E).

Practical information

Being outside in the natural environment can be uplifting. This walk, although some may consider it short. Anyone less mobile, only able to achieve a small/short walk; the benefits outweigh the distance.

This walk starts and finishes within the National Trust's field car parks (there are 3), next to the public convenience. It is possible that the field car parks could close due to the operating season or weather. In that case, the walk could start within the approach park layby 200m away, or the first National Trust car park, located at the entrance to the headland road, 800m back from the road.

The first section, up to the seal cove - The track has been made up, and there is potential access for wheeled mobility (I'm not sure if sight of the seals, down into the cove, would be possible though). Subject to the type of mobility, potentially explore a little further out onto the headland; however, the return on the West side is not so easily navigable, and would suggest returning the same way.

This is a clifftop route, with a clearly defined path, away from the immediate edges. There is signage and barriers, where it is considered 'sheer', it is also an area recognised for nesting birds, keep dogs under control, and avoid getting too close to the edge.
