Agaete, Lomo del Manco and Playa Guayedra

Set off from the charming town of Agaete for a hike that quickly gains altitude. The lush ascent offers superb views of the surrounding mountains and the white village of Agaete, nestled between the sea and the hills. The path then winds along the coast with spectacular panoramic views of the ocean. The descent leads to Guayedra beach, a wild and unspoilt spot surrounded by cliffs. This secluded beach offers an impressive natural setting and a timeless atmosphere. A beautiful circular route between mountains, ocean and landscapes typical of north-west Gran Canaria.

Description of the walk

(S/E) Leaving the car park, take the bridge on the right, then the first street on the right. Continue to the end of the lane, then turn left and take the first right. You will then see the GR® 131 signposts (towards Tamadaba). All you need to do is follow these signposts to continue the route.

(1) The path is well signposted and presents no particular difficulty. A climb of around 300 m allows you to gain altitude quickly. The trail is pleasant, green and often lined with flowers. Do feel free to look back from time to time to admire the view of Agaete as it gradually recedes into the distance.

(2) Enjoy the view, then take the path on the right; it’s not particularly difficult, it’s wide and offers lovely views all the way.

(3) You have two options: either head back towards Agaete, or continue towards the beach. Allow about 25 minutes’ walk with a 150-metre climb.
If you choose to head towards the beach, please be careful: a short section is on the road. It takes about 6 minutes on foot.

(5) Head down towards the beach. There may be a barrier in place indicating roadworks (noted in March 2026). Access is, however, permitted on Saturdays and Sundays. Please do let us know in the comments when the roadworks are finished so that future hikers can be informed

(6) Enjoy Guayedra beach, then either head back up, or go to (4) to take in the view.

Head back up to point (4) then carefully follow the road back down to point (3).

(3) Walk down the wide path, which is easy going, to the village.

(7) Turn right and walk to the car park.
