Park at the junction of the D206 and the Route du Fraysse.

(S/E) Continue along the D206, passing through Thubiès. Walk past a fountain to reach the junction with the road leading to Notre-Dame-d'Albiac.

(1) Leave this road on your right and continue straight on the D206 to join theGR®620before the D6.

(2) At the first houses before the bend to the left, take theGR® to the right. Climb the winding path and cross a track (junction with the alternative route – see the Practical Information section).

(3) Continue straight on along theGR®620. Follow a path along the edge of the woods to reach the tarmac road (D664). Take this to the left as far as the village of Roquelaure, still following theGR®620.

(4) Walk through the village and stay on theGR®620towards the water tower. Continue through the woods until you reach the crossroads at the edge of the woods.

(5) Leave theGR®620here and take the path straight ahead towards Le Fraysse. Pass through this hamlet and turn left onto the tarmac road which leads back to the starting car park (S/E).

A lovely walk, with a good bit at the start that’s downhill and along the road. That’s the least pleasant part.
After that, the view is magnificent!

From S/E to 2: tarmac, tarmac! Nothing of interest apart from the lava flow and a few glimpses through the woods of the Lot valley.
From 2 to 3: a difficult climb through the undergrowth, otherwise uninteresting; we can’t wait to get out of it...
From 3 to 4: the GR is almost impassable: 30 cm between two hedges, no visibility, with slush underfoot, scratched by brambles, stung by nettles on hands and face.

From 4 to 5: FINALLY: Magnificent: village and panoramic views from the ridge.

A suggestion: from S/E, join the GR 65 along the banks of the Lot via the paths through Bois Levat and Montplaisir... and follow the Lot to Saint Côme d’Olt; there, take a short detour across the magnificent bridge over the Lot, wander through the narrow streets, then rejoin the trail and the original route.

Written on 4 July 2019 A lovely route; it’s best to start on the road (if you do it the other way round, it’s uphill in the heat and on tarmac). Take it easy so you can admire the changing scenery; there’s a gentle climb through the woods, and once you reach Roquelaure… the view is stunning!!!

At the start, the stretch of road is too long (5 km before turning off onto the GR 620)

Hello, I went for a walk in the spring on a sunny day when it was 16°C.
Overall, the route is good and, apart from a few challenges, very pleasant with wooded sections.
The lava flow section and the walk through the village are really the main attractions of this hike (the locals are friendly and happy to tell you the history of the castle)... it has to be said that the scenery is superb and remains a highlight.
The elevation gain is reasonable and can be tackled at a leisurely pace.
A curious sight at the end of the route: a squirrel crossed our path without a care in the world!
