Around Milhars
A fairly short, unpretentious hike requiring a good sense of direction. The route is mostly along forest tracks or paths but has no signposts. A compass and map are essential; a GPS is recommended. The terrain is quite varied and you won’t get bored at any point.
The Old Tanus Route
This easy midday walk is best undertaken in hot or very hot weather. Indeed, it takes place entirely in the woodland and along the Viaur, and almost entirely on signposted paths. However, it is not a circular route; nevertheless, the view over the Viaur is very pleasant and, above all, it is very comfortable there, sheltered from the heat. This path is little used. It is situated on the Chemin des Planques.
Around Estavar
This easy countryside walk around the village of Estavar is very pleasant. It offers beautiful views of the countryside and the surrounding mountains. On this route, which is marked for two-thirds of the way, there is a short stretch of road—not too long but necessary to move from one path to another—with both shaded and sunny sections. The unmarked section is straightforward to follow with a little care. Allow 3 hours at a moderate pace.
