- 1 : km 0 - alt. 38 m - Turn left out of the station and walk down the hill.
- 2 : km 0.09 - alt. 33 m - At the T-junction, turn left and continue down the hill to the village of Rowlands Castle.
- 3 : km 0.15 - alt. 32 m - At the T-junction in the village, turn left under the railway arch.
(If you are looking for refreshments, Rowlands Castle has a cafe and several pubs.)
- 4 : km 0.33 - alt. 31 m - Continue forward past The Castle pub to where the road bends to the left. Cross the road and go through the gap in the wall. (There is a footpath sign.) Immediately, turn left over the wooden footpath bridge.
- 5 : km 0.51 - alt. 32 m - There are more paths through this area than are shown on the map. Simply keep left until you come to a pedestrian gate. Go through the gate into the field and then go forward keeping the hedge to your left
- 6 : km 1.88 - alt. 54 m - Pass through a metal kissing gate and immediately bear left to a second metal kissing gate.
- 7 : km 2.21 - alt. 60 m - Cross the corner of the field to go through the hedge into another field taking the path up the hill.
- 8 : km 2.38 - alt. 75 m - Turn right onto the road.
- 9 : km 2.57 - alt. 85 m - A footpath sign directs you left into a drive.
- 10 : km 2.6 - alt. 87 m - Bear right to follow the path and then across a field.
- 11 : km 2.94 - alt. 60 m - At the track, continue forward with the thatched cottage to your right.
- 12 : km 3.48 - alt. 88 m - Follow the track up the hill until you reach further buildings. Turn first left.
- 13 : km 3.58 - alt. 83 m - Bear slightly right at the cross tracks to continue forward.
- 14 : km 3.76 - alt. 89 m - Go through into the field and bear right to the woodland.
- 15 : km 4.22 - alt. 94 m - Continue through the woodland keeping left at the junction of paths.
- 16 : km 4.52 - alt. 64 m - With Old Idsworth Garden visible to your left, continue forward and down the hill.
- 17 : km 4.63 - alt. 53 m - Pass the remains of the ice house to your left and continue down towards the pond. Go through one gate and immediately through another slightly to you right.
- 18 : km 4.88 - alt. 65 m - Follow the hedge up the hill to a gap through to the left into the adjacent field where you will find St Herbert's Church.
- 19 : km 5.15 - alt. 51 m - After visiting the church, walk down the hill and turn left along the road for a short distance.
- 20 : km 5.2 - alt. 51 m - Almost immediately, turn right onto a track that takes you under the railway.
- 21 : km 5.27 - alt. 53 m - Just under the rail bridge, turn left along the track.
- 22 : km 5.46 - alt. 53 m - Turn right to go up the hill along the track beside the field boundary.
- 23 : km 5.85 - alt. 101 m - At the top of the hill, turn left.
- 24 : km 6 - alt. 99 m - Bear left along the path at the side of the field.
- 25 : km 6.72 - alt. 46 m - Follow the path gently down hill until you almost reach the road. Don't go through to the road, however, but turn left to follow the hedge inside the field.
- 26 : km 6.91 - alt. 44 m - Bear right to go through to the road. Turn left along the road taking the right fork.
- 27 : km 7.15 - alt. 43 m - At the T-junction you will find The George Inn. To continue your journey turn right (south) along the road. - Pub
- 28 : km 7.24 - alt. 44 m - In a short distance, fork right and up the hill.
- 29 : km 7.61 - alt. 74 m - When the road bends right, take the track to your left.
- 30 : km 8.52 - alt. 56 m - Soon after coming into the outskirts of Rowlands Castle, bear right at the junction of tracks.
- 31 : km 8.68 - alt. 60 m - Turn left along the track in front of the houses and then continue forward along the narrow footpath ahead.
- 32 : km 8.91 - alt. 51 m - When you come out onto a residential road, go directly forward around the right side of the green.
- 33 : km 9.2 - alt. 42 m - Continue down the hill to turn left at the T-junction.
- 34 : km 9.29 - alt. 34 m - In a short while, turn left into the station approach.
- S/E : km 9.35 - alt. 37 m
