By car: from Sare, take the D306 to the Lizarieta Pass and park in the large car park.
(S/E) From the car park, follow the track leading to the pigeon hunting huts, which climbs south-east for about 600 m.
Pass the Idoikua pidgeon hunting hut and follow a left-hand bend where the meadow narrows.
(1) Take a path on the right, marked green-red-white.
Pass above the Palomeras Usotegui inn, then near a hunters' house (decorated with commemorative plaques) and arrive at the Etxalar pidgeon hunting huts.
At the R46 boundary marker, turn right, 50 m further on, at the three-way junction, stay on the path that climbs to the left and continue on this path which passes above the track and then joins it.
Follow this track, passing the "Fontaine de la Palombe" (Usoen Ithurria) and continue for about 300m until you reach the R50 border marker.
(2) Turn right towards Usategieta.
A little further down, at a new signpost, turn left (white-red-yellow markings).
At the bottom, cross a stream and go up to the right.
Further up, pass between a shed and a farm and continue to the next crossroads.
(3) At the signpost, turn right towards Arxuria and Elizondo.
after 100m, at a fountain and picnic tables, turn left onto the green-red-white marked path called "Ibilbide archeologikoak" (archaeological path).
You will reach a three-way junction.
(4) Turn left towards Zentinela.
Cross a gate and climb up through the fields, keeping slightly to the left. Pass a second gate and follow the track. On the plateau with power lines and pidgeon hunting huts, cross a gate on the left, cross the field and head for the second gate marked green and white. Go up to the right to reach Zentinela. The summit on the ridge has two small letterboxes. About fifteen metres away, have fun finding a blockhouse and its turret.
(5) Continue along the path to reach the archaeological site with its standing stones, cromlechs and burial mounds.
(6) Descend along the fence at the edge of the woods, heading northeast. The path faces Atxuria.
On the descent, at a crossroads, continue straight ahead to reach the Col des 3 Bornes, R56.
(7) Stay on the track on the left.
When you reach a sheepfold, turn left and descend. Cross two streams and start climbing again. You will reach the Camino a la Muga crossroads.
(8) At this crossroads, turn right and follow the border to a flat area.
(9) Continue left and further on you will find the path and then the track you took on the way there.
(2) Pass the Fontaine de la Palombe fountain, then in a right-hand bend, take the path on the left that overlooks the track and leads to the Etxalar pidgeon hunting huts.
Go down to the left, pass by the hunters' house and then above the inn.
Pick up the track and follow it, admiring the summit of Ibanteli, until you reach the car park (S/E).
