Access: from the village of Sare, take the road as if going to the Sare Caves.
After about 4 km, leave the road that branches off to the left to the caves and continue straight on to reach the Col de Lizarrieta.
(S/E) Take the wide path on the other side of the road that goes uphill. After 100 m, continue straight ahead, leaving the path that branches off to the left. Then, after 50 m, take the path on the left. After another 300 m, you will reach a three-way junction
(1) Turn right and follow the blue markings to reach afirst small plateau.
(2) Continue straight ahead on the well-marked yellow trail. You will reach a wide plateau with a yellow sign (at this point, you can usually see Pottoks, Basque ponies that live in semi-freedom).
(3) From there, climb to the right towards the first small rocky peak you see. Once you reach this first peak, you will see the destination of the hike, Ibanteli (pleasant 360° view; pretty Basque cross adorning a rock; post box).
(4) Descend along the same path to the crossroads you passed on the way up.
(2) Take the wide grassy path that descends gently to the right (leaving the yellow-marked path you took on the way up).
(1) Follow the same route as on the way up and you will easily reach the pass (S/E).
