Park at the corner of Rue du Bois and Rue du Rossignol, in Colfontaine, in the woodland car park.
(S/E) Follow the stream through the woods heading south.
(1) Turn right onto the first path, which climbs steeply. At the top, several paths cross; turn left towards the west onto the Sentier d’Eugies, which leads you out of the woods.
(2) At Rue Baille Cariotte, turn left, then left again into Rue Baille de Fer, signposted ‘Promenade Libiez’. Walk alongside the cemetery and go round it by turning right onto the path marked with silhouettes, then left onto the Sentier de Blaugies.
(3) When you reach the small square, turn diagonally into the alleyway on the right, between the house and the white garage, then turn right and, immediately afterwards, left.
(4) Turn right onto the path towards the water tower until you reach Rue du Tour, where you turn right and then immediately left onto Avenue Lambert, then left onto Rue de l’Avaleresse. Then turn right onto Avenue de la Résistance and follow it until you reach Avenue Lambert, then turn left and left again towards the woods.
(5) Take the path through the woods where you’ll see the ‘no entry’ road sign.
At the junction of the paths, follow the one marked with yellow ‘shortcuts’ signs.
(6) After the pond, turn left, then, at the end, left again.
(7) At Rue de l’Avaleresse, turn right, cross the main road and enter the woods where the old Sauwartan coal mine is situated. Walk past it and follow the path to the left, leaving the trail a little further on to your left. Follow the path down towards the Ruisseau d’Elwasmes and walk alongside it until you reach the junction you passed earlier at the start of the walk.
(1) Return to the car park by following the route in reverse (S/E).
