The walk is accessible from the Cergy-Saint-Christophe RER A station, plus bus 9504 (about a 15-minute bus ride there to the “Cléry” stop, and 10 minutes back from Vigny “Bord’Haut”).
(S) When you get off the bus, head towards the village. Cross the roundabout, then at the fork, take the street on the left.
Walk past the church then take the first street on the right (Rue du Bâtiment) which, further on, turns left to run alongside a high stone wall.
(1) At the end of the street, take the path on the right after the last house. Walk past the worm farm and continue through the fields to the edge of the woods. Enter the woods via a faint path, which widens as soon as you enter the woods. Further on, you’ll come to a well-marked path (PR®): take it to the left. Then, 50 m further on, when you reach a wasteland, take the path on the left. Follow the edge of the woods until you reach the Allée Couverte du Bois Couturier.
(2) Head downhill to rejoin the PR® heading west, then take thefirst path on the left. Continue to follow the PR® markings, crossing a large clearing with numerous picnic facilities. Later, walk along a flower-filled heath (featuring orchids in season) dotted with fruit trees, before turning left for a view of the village of Guiry-en-Vexin. Continue to the church.
(3) Retrace your steps, admiring the Château de Guiry as you pass, and continue along the main road (D 159, towards Wy). At a junction on the right, don’t miss the spring, the drinking trough, the wash house and the statue of Saint-Romain.
(4) Return to the road as far as the church at Wy-dit-Joli-Village. Take the street on the left (with the Hand Tool Museum on the right). After 100 m, take Rue du Puits de la Ville on the left. At the junction, keep to the right; cross the tarmac road and continue straight ahead on a very good path (and cycle route). 150 m further on, take a very good stony farm track on the left. Continue for just over a kilometre to a crossroads: take the track on the left to a cross set on a rock painted white.
(5) Continue to the church at Gadancourt (at the entrance to the village, on the left, there is a large semi-circular trough). Leave the church on your left and follow the road towards Avernes.
(6) At the bend in the road to the left, take the path leading down opposite into the woods. Return to the road: continue straight ahead, then turn into the second street on the right (opposite the Renault garage), then the first street on the left and continue to the church.
(7) Take the avenue lined with lime trees on the left. At the end, take Rue du Château on the left, then the street on the right in front of the town hall. Pass a street on the left and, at the fork, take the narrow street on the right. Cross a road and continue straight ahead into Rue du Clos Pringent. The street becomes a farm track. At the crossroads, take the track on the left: you’ll come to a cross at a junction of paths.
(8) Take the track on the right to Théméricourt church, then on to the Maison du Parc housed in the château.
(9) Turn right and enter the park grounds, walk along the pond and exit via the opposite entrance. Take the road on the left. At the crossroads, take the street on the left, thenthe first street on the left. Pass a wash house at the foot of an old mill. At the next crossroads, take the road on the right, then turn left along the D51. Continue up the hill and, just before the crest, you’ll reach a farm track branching off diagonally to the right.
(10) Follow this track: in very wet weather, go round the large puddle at around 800 m via the proper detour on the left.
Pass the recycling centre, then at the crossroads, turn right downhill (Route du Bourbier). At the crossroads (elevation 114), continue straight ahead, then take the path on the left, then left, then right onto Rue Tortue. At the end, turn right, then left onto the main street.
(11) Admire the superb Château de Vigny from the gate (closed for renovation work due to dry rot -2026-). Continue to the church (usually open) and a little further on to the wash house.
(12) Retrace your steps, passing the Café de la Poste; continue straight on up Rue du Général Leclerc. When it turns left, take Impasse des Cendres (marked with a ‘no entry’ sign) opposite. At the last houses, continue straight ahead into a pedestrian lane. When you reach a street, turn left. Then turn right: pass the cycle park, then the bus stop. Take the slip road leading down from the dual carriageway on the left: the stop for bus 9504 to Cergy-St-Christophe is just on the left (E).
