Parking at Les Estreys, for example, closest to the bridge over the Borne (near the rubbish bins). You can also park and start the hike in Locussol, Saint-Vidal, or Chazelles.
(S/E) Take the lane opposite the car park, Chemin des Ouvagères (signposted), heading north, which climbs up the hillside. The lane is tarmac at the start, then becomes a track marked with yellowPR® signs.
Go under the railway line. Continue along the basalt cliffs, ignoring the paths on the right. After 800 metres, you will reach the plateau. Stay on the main track.
(1) At the crossroads with a road (just after the farm building on the right), take the Route du Four on the left, towards Locussol. No more yellow markings.
Enter the village, staying on the main road. At the first junction, turn left, still on the Route du Four.
(2) You will arrive in the centre of the village, at the coudert (or couderc) with the Maison de la Béate, the communal oven and information panels.
Continue straight ahead to descend towards Saint-Vidal (signposted). 450 metres further on, you will reach a beautiful cross on a small promontory with a bird's eye view of Saint-Vidal and its castle.
Below, just after the first hairpin bend in the road, take the small path on the right that passes under a rock. In the village of Saint-Vidal, turn right towards the square and the castle car park.
Tip: take a short detour to the municipal hall and library via the cobbled street between the castle and the car park.
(3) Then take the street on the left after the small car park, towards the church (sign) and go down to the banks of the Borne. After the picnic area, turn right onto the road.
(4) Leave the road 200 metres further on and turn left onto the track. A little further on, there is a bridge over the Borne. Continue to the right.
(5) At the end of the meadow, before entering the forest, look for the small dilapidated wooden hut on the left. Go behind it and follow a very narrow path along the low wall, which then climbs up through the copse towards the village of Chazelles.
100 metres further on, you will come to a track. Turn left onto it. After 500 metres, leave this track and continue along the path that climbs to the right and leads to Chazelles. Head towards the centre of the village (Assembly or Maison de la Béate, cross, drinking trough, wash house).
(6) Take the road on the left.
(7) 300 metres further on, at the crossroads, continue straight ahead (leaving the road that descends to Saint-Vidal on your left) and immediately take the track on the left marked in red and white (GR® 300). Follow these markings until you reach Les Estreys. Walk alongside the hamlets of Grazac and Triouleyre on your right (without entering them) and the Borne valley on your left.
(8) At the end of the football pitch, continue on the track on the left, still following the red and white markings. Continue for about 300 metres.
(9) Turn onto the path on the right. At the next crossroads, continue on the path opposite. At each crossroads, always follow the red and white markings.
(10) Once in the Ruisseau de Lonnac valley, climb a few metres to the right to cross the stream via a footbridge and immediately turn left. Join the road, then turn left to cross the bridge over the Borne and return to the car park at Les Estreys (S/E).
