Description of the walk

Car park on the left as you arrive at the foot of the village (electric vehicle charging available in this car park).

(S/E) Continue east on Rue Grande and turn left at the fountain, opposite Rue de l'Église.

(1) Continue straight ahead for a short distance and take the few steps on the left, crossing the village to a traffic island. Then turn left onto the right path (GRP®) to Les Auvières.

(2) Signpost "Les Basses Auvières": leave theGRP® on your left and take thePR® opposite to Les Auvières.

(3) "Les Auvières" signpost: take the path opposite towards Murs, keeping on thePR® until you reach a track.

(4) Leave the track. At the cairn, turn right, heading north, onto the small path that leads to the "Borne des Trois Évêchés" sign. Continue straight ahead until you reach the "Lauzière" marker.

(5) Continue straight ahead towards Murs. Pass to the right of the beautiful La Jaumière farm. Continue on the now tarmac road. Pass by the edge of the Holiday Centre and reach the "Les Plaines" marker at a multiple crossroads, at an elevation of 499 metres.

(6) Take the small road opposite, which quickly turns left, running parallel to the main road. Cross a housing estate and reach the entrance to the village of Murs. Beautiful view of the village.

(7) Signpost "Prés longs". Head towards the village. First turn left in front of the oratory, then right onto the D15, the road to Sault.

(8) Take the time to admire the gates of the château where Louis des Balbes de Berton was born on 5 March 1543, who would later become the Brave Crillon and be named by Henry IV as "the first captain in the world". Continue for 600 metres on the D15 (GRP®) to the mission cross.

(9) Take the path on the right (GRP®) towards "Les Calamels".

(10) "Tourbe" marker. Note the natural pool on the right of the path and take the path on the right after this pool. After 400 metres, the path goes around the left of the Domaine de l'Enclos de Bourgues. Continue on thePR® to the ruins of Vaumale.

(11) Turn right and cross the Rieu Sec bridge, cross the D4, then take the wide path opposite, which is theGRP® "Tour des Monts de Vaucluse".

(12) "Rieu Sec" marker. Continue along the wide path to the D102a, very close to Joucas. Cross the departmental road carefully, then take the first path on the left which leads back behind the castle.

(13) Take the path on the left to reach the top of a paved slanting street that leads back to the village centre and then to the car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

Don't forget to visit the village of Joucas, where several artists have left their creations.
Joucas: a round trip to the Church of Saint John the Baptist (Rue de l'Église is a dead end, but a short round trip is a must).
Walls: the castle is private and not open to visitors.

A very pleasant walk, the main attraction of which is visiting the two villages. Be sure to take the time to stroll through their streets and alleys. It's well worth a look.

The highlight of this hike is visiting the two villages of Joucas and Murs.
The climb is steady and pleasant, but there are few views except on arrival in Murs.
The descent is monotonous and stony, with nothing of interest except the view of the Lioux cliff.

A lovely walk, apart from the gale-force wind that could knock a cow over when we arrived in Murs.

A beautiful hike that we cut short by taking the direct route from Murs to Joucas.

Hello
The hike is largely signposted and does not cross any private property (it bypasses the Tourbe and Enclos des Bourgues properties).

Hello, is the trail fully marked? And does it cross any private property? Thank you.
