Access the Saint-Guérin dam by continuing along the D218d road after Arêches. Park in the car park on the right bank of the dam. The hike starts from the observatory overlooking the dam and the Pelton turbine wheel.
(S/E) Begin the hike by heading to the right bank of the lake (east side). Follow an almost horizontal track passing below the Estéray sheepfold. The track passes over a tunnel outlet fitted with a grille that discharges water from streams diverted from the opposite watershed of the Isère, notably the Ormente stream, into the dam.
(1) The walk continues on a wide, almost flat gravel path, which is easy for children and even pushchairs to navigate.
(2) When you reach the southern end of the Saint-Guérin lake, take the large Himalayan footbridge to cross the Plan de la Chevalière stream, which flows into the reservoir. The trail continues through the woods to the end of the lake.
(3) Take the wooden footbridge over the Ruisseau de la Louze stream. Continue along the left bank of the lake (west side) on a shaded track suitable for vehicles.
(4) Turn right and continue along the top of the dam. At the exit, climb up to the left to the viewpoint and car park (S/E).
