This walk is part of the trek The Matterhorn Tour.
A long stage through two passes however, shortened by the cable car link in Zinal and the coach transfer between Villa Evolène and Arolla.
Warning: Taking into account the cable car transport, the positive altitude isn't 2156 m as indicated but only 1380 m.
Take the Sorebois cable car and start the hike at the upper train station :1::.
Once again, find the Tour du Cervin trail still waymarked white red white (Blanc Rouge Blanc, BRB) and up a pleasant hill, on and off trails and ski slopes you'll reach the first pass of the day, la Corne de Sorebois (1).
At the pass, catch a glimpse of Moiry Lake and its dam. Head down a windy trail towards the dam (2).
As soon as you reach the left bank, start your second climb, that of the "Col de Torrent" (Torrent pass). Cross the mountain pasture heading west leading to Lac des Autannes at high point 2686 (3) before heading up the last slopes of the pass. Once you reach the pass (4) a breath-taking view awaits of the surrounding areas.
Start the long hike down, cutting through agricultural tracks (5), (6) and reaching the Villa hamlet (7) in Evolène's most renowned town.
Then catch the bus that takes you to Arolla (8), and that's it for today.
