Tour des Aiguilles Rouges : Refuge Pierre à Bérard - Refuge Flégère

Start: Refuge de la Pierre to Pierre in Bérard

(S) From the Refuge de la Pierre to Pierre in Bérard, descend the valley below along the Eau de Bérard river. Follow the GRP^® Tour du Pays du Mont Blanc to the Cascade de Bérard.

(1) At the waterfall, continue straight on towards the Col des Montets (several routes are possible).

(2) Take the path on the right, passing under the ski lifts. Follow the D1506 to the right for about 100 m. Take the 1st road on the left, passing under the railway line (GRP^®). Turn right and continue to the Col des Montets car park. Cross the road to the reception chalet of the Montets nature reserve.

(3) Turn left from the chalet, and start climbing towards the Refuge de la Flégère.

(4) At the junction, turn right and follow the signs for Refuge Flégère, Refuge du Lac Blanc via the GRP^® Tour du Pays du Mont Blanc. The climb is steep, but the many switchbacks are a great help (this route avoids the Échelles de l'Argentière).

(5) At the junction, turn left and ignore the path on the right that leads to the Refuge du Lac Blanc and the Lacs de Chesery.

(6) At the Tête aux Vents crossroads (view of the whole Mont Blanc mountain range), take the left-hand path down to the Chalet des Cheserys.

(7) Take the path to the right of the chalet (GR^® Tour du Mont Blanc) and leave the path down to Argentière on the left. Cross the small streams flowing from Lac Blanc and, via a pleasant crossing, reach the Refuge de la Flégère (E).
